POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 19, 2017) – The Vassar College men's fencing team celebrated Senior Day Sunday at the 2017 Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational, earning the team title for the eighth straight season in action from Walker Field House.
Vassar moved to 13-0 on the season in dual matches with its 6-0 mark on Sunday afternoon, as VC knocked off Cornell University's club team 23-4, followed by wins over RPI (24-3), Drew University (23-4), Vassar's "B" squad (20-7), Rochester Institute of Technology (24-3) and the University of Rochester (26-1). VC dropped just 22 bouts all day, with seven of those coming to teammates on the Vassar "B" team, which finished second as a team with five wins Sunday.
Looking at individuals, there were a bevy of standouts for both the "A" and "B" teams for Vassar, led by the foil team that went 53-1 on the day. Senior
Tom Racek celebrated his second-to-last home meet at Vassar with a perfect 18-0 record, while sophomore squad mate
Noe Berger was also undefeated in his 18 bouts. Freshman
Adlai Brandt-Ogman upped his record this season to 27-3 with a 17-1 mark on the afternoon.

Evin Heintz was joined by normal epee fencer
Jonathan Alperstein to post a 48-6 mark on the day. Alperstein, who went 12-4 last week in epee, was 14-4 as he exchanged starting spots with normal senior starter
Eli Polston. Heintz was 18-0 on the day, as he moved to 31-3 on the season, while Lee was 16-2 in his first dual meet action of the year.
The epee strip saw Vassar earn 39 wins on the day, led by the 13 victories from freshman
Michael Jaklitsch. Senior
Daniel Swerzenski was 11-4 for the Brewers, while Polston posted a 10-8 record as he moonlighted as an epee fencer Sunday. Senior
George Whiteside subbed in during the middle rounds to chalk up a 5-0 record.

The Brewers will return to the strips on December 3 after a break next weekend, hosting one of the best regular season meets in the Traditional Multi-Meet, entertaining Harvard University, Sacred Heart University, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, Penn State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and New York University in Walker Field House.
