VASSAR COLLEGE SPORTS MEDICINE
(Updated August 11, 2026)

MISSION STATEMENT:
The primary objective of the Sports Medicine staff at Vassar College is to provide the highest quality protection of the health and welfare of our student-athlete population. This is accomplished first through risk management and prevention of athletic injury, and second through the recognition, evaluation, first aid, emergency care, management, and rehabilitation of injuries. In addition, the Sports Medicine staff strives to ensure that our student-athletes will be provided with the proper direction and counseling in all areas of physical and mental well being.

All full-time staff members are certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Inc., the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association, and the New York State Athletic Trainers' Association. Athletic Training is an allied health profession recognized by the American Medical Association since 1990. Athletic trainers prevent, evaluate, manage, rehabilitate and treat injuries/illnesses that occur during participation in athletics.

The Sports Medicine staff works closely with the team physician, the Baldwin Health Center staff, surrounding medical facilities, the Vassar College Athletic Department and the athletes to carry out these tasks.
