POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 31, 2018) – The Vassar Women's Fencing team travel to New Haven this Saturday to take on the Bulldogs of Yale University. Vassar will look to come back from a 1-4 loss at the Northeast Fencing Conference Round Robin, hosted by Boston College in their last time out on January 28.

Annie Innes-Gold had a strong showing going 11-4 on the day, posting 3-0 wins against Brandeis and MIT. Foil fencer

Rose Hulsey-Vincent led their squads, going 10-5 and 9-6 respectively.
A Look At The Brewers (12-20):
- The Brewers have been paced this season by their solid sabre squad, which leads the team with 149 bout victories this year.
- Senior sabre Annie Innes-Gold and Lilia Hutchinson have contributed 78 and 31 bout wins respectively.
- Junior foil fencer Mirit Rutishauser has a squad-high 52 bout wins this season, second only to Innes-Gold on the whole team, while senior Zoe Morgan follows her in the squad rankings with 28 wins as well.
- First-year Isabella Migani, who dealt with injury earlier in the season, has been solid in foil with a 2-1 win against Tufts to help the squad to a 7-2 victory over the Jumbos.
- Shannon Chen, Hannah Gaven and Rose Hulsey-Vincent lead in epee, accounting for 49 of the squad's 65 wins between the three of them. Hulsey-Vincent, back in action, led the squad in Boston with a 9-6 record, including a 3-0 win against Tufts.
A Look At The Competition:
- The Bulldogs come into the weekend off a strong showing in Philadelphia on January 21st, going 4-1 against UNC, Drew, Temple, and Wagner, falling only, narrowly, to Northwestern by one bout.
- Yale beat No.7 Temple University 14-13, after sophomore foilist Anna Zhou clinched the winning bout.
- The Yale epee squad is especially strong, beating all five of their opponents, and notably sweeping Drew 9-0.
- Sophomore epeeist Michelle Nam had a particularly strong showing, going 10-2 on the day.
- The sabre squad also swept Drew 9-0, and captain Ilana Kamber went undefeated against Northwestern.
Up Next: Vassar will take on NFC opponents University of New Hampshire, Smith College, Dartmouth College, Boston University, Wellesley College, Sacred Heart University, and the University of Massachusetts on the road in Southampton, MA, next Saturday, February 10, starting at 10 a.m.
