Women's Fencing Scores Conference Victories Over Sacred Heart and Wheaton

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Vassar College Women's Fencing team competed in the Northeast Fencing Conference meet at Boston College on Saturday as the Brewers earned victories over Wheaton (MA) and Sacred Heart.

Round One - Brown 24 Vassar 3

Epee - BROWN 7 VC 2
- First year Lela Mittman and classmate Veronica Scherk both earned a victory.
- Senior Aanya Mukherjee battled in three bouts along with junior Nika Ungurianu competed in two bouts.
Foil - BROWN 9 VC 0
- Junior Elena Rosenmayr, junior Zoe North and sophomore Sushama Gadiyaram battled in three bouts each.
Sabre - BROWN 8 VC 1
- First year Mercer Colby picked up the lone win in the opening round.
- Sophomore Lily Paine and senior Abigail Geiger fenced in three bouts apiece.

Round Two - Vassar 24 Wheaton 3

Epee - VC 9 WHE 0
- Scherk, Mittman and Mukherjee finished with three wins each.
Foil - VC 6 WHE 3
- North, Gadiyaram and Rosenmayr collected two victories apiece.
Sabre - VC 9 WHE 0
- Paine, Geiger and Colby were awarded three wins each.

Round Three - MIT 22 Vassar 5

Epee - MIT 6 VC 3
- Scherk posted two wins along with Ungurianu tallying a win.
- Mittman battled in three bouts.
Foil - MIT 8 VC 1
- North earned the lone win of the round.
- Gadiyaram and Rosenmayr each fenced in three bouts.
Sabre - MIT 8 VC 1
- Geiger scored the lone victory.
- Colby and Paine competed in three bouts each.

Round Four - Boston College 24 Vassar 3

Epee - BC 6 VC 3
- Scherk tallied two wins along with Mukherjee adding a victory.
- Ungurianu battled in three bouts.
Foil - BC 9 VC 0
- North, first year Rebecca Yu and Gadiyaram all competed in three bouts.
Sabre - BC 9 VC 0
- Paine, Colby and senior Vanessa Mark fenced in three bouts each.

Round Five - Vassar 16 Sacred Heart 11

Epee - VC 6 SHU 3
- Scherk registered three wins along with Mittman garnering two victories.
- Ungurianu added a win.
Foil - VC 5 SHU 4
- North recorded a perfect 3-0 round while Gadiyaram scored two wins.
- First year Sarah Huynh battled in three bouts.
Sabre - VC 6 SHU 3
- Geiger, Paine and Mark all totaled two wins.

Round Six - Wellesley 22 Vassar 5

Epee - WELL 7 VC 2
- Scherk earned both victories.
- Mukherjee battled in three bouts, Ungurianu competed in two and Mittman fenced in one.
Foil - WELL 9 VC 0
- Yu, Gadiyaram and North all battled in three bouts.
Sabre - WELL 6 VC 3
- Paine scored two wins while Colby picked up a victory.
- Mark fenced in three bouts.

Round Seven - Brandeis 17 Vassar 10

Epee - VC 6 BRAND 3
- Mittman earned three victories while Ungurianu posted two wins.
- Mukherjee also scored a win along with Scherk battling in one bout.

- North, Huynh and Gadiyaram all competed in three bouts.

- Colby recorded a perfect 3-0 round while Mark added a win.
