Last Time Out: The Brewers took out their brooms last weekend and swept the competition at the Vassar Invitational, defeating eight teams with a nearly 75% win-rate. All three squads were stupendous in their matches with foil going 41-21, sabre 45-17, and epee performing the best with a 48-12 record. Individually, freshman epic Michael Jaklitsch was phenomenal, leading the all teams with an overall record of 17-3. Close behind him was sophomore sabre Graeme Mills (15-6) and freshman sabre Evin Heintz (13-3).

A Look At The Brewers (8-0):
  • Vassar is looking to defend the Matt Lampell team title for the eighth consecutive season.
  • VC will rely again on its epee team, which went 48-14 last week at the VC Invitational.
  • The Brewers were led in epee by Michael Jaklitsch, who chalked up 17 wins, going 3-0 against Yeshiva, Hunter and Haverford.
  • Senior Tom Racek and freshman Adlai Brandt-Ogman were stellar for the foil team, chalking up 10 wins a piece.
  • Sophomore Graeme Mills earned a third of the sabre team's wins with 15 in the tournament. Freshman Evin Heintz was also impressive, collecting 13 wins throughout the weekend.
  • Seniors Jonathan Alperstein and Daniel Swerzenski were indispensable for epee, each earning 12 wins including two shut-out victories against Yeshiva and Army.
  • Vassar's epee team is looked dominant last weekend, blanking Yeshiva and dispensing only 1 bout to both Haverford and Army
Up Next: Vassar will have a weekend off before hosting one of the biggest regular season meets of the year with the Traditional Multi-Meet. VC will play host to No. 7 Harvard, No. 6 Pennsylvania, Sacred Heart, No. 3 Princeton University, No. 4 Penn State University, No. 8 Temple University and New York University.
