Vassar Swims To Fourth-Place Finish At Liberty League Championship

Rippon, Wiener post runner-up finishes

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team closed out the 2024 Liberty League Championship in fourth-place out of 10 scoring teams with a point total of 1,091. Both Bella Rippon (Hershey, PA) and Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) each scored runner-up finishes in Saturday's Final session.

For The Brewers

Wiener finished off a big championship meet for the Brewers on Saturday with a second-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:42.49.
Wirner was one of three Brewers to score in the meet's longest event with Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) taking sixth-place in 17:59.09 and Maleigha Vietti (Overland Park, KS) scoring a 13^th place finish in a time of 18:26.90.
Rippon was the second finisher for Vassar in the 200-yard backstroke, coming home in a time of 2:05.31.
Rippon led five Brewers who qualified for the finals in the backstroke event with Sarah Quintana (Chandler, AZ) placing fifth in 2:09.83 and Vietti showing a sixth-place finish in 2:11.16.
First Year Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) was the top finisher in the 'B' final with a time of 2:09.44 and Jolie Walker (Chicago, IL) swam to a 20^th place finish in 2:13.56.
Vassar also had strong swims in the 100-yard freestyle with four swimmers qualifying for the finals. Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) led the way with a 12^th place finish in a time of 53.35 seconds.
Maya Luongo (Katonah, NY) posted an 18^th place finish in 54.37 seconds while Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Hills, MI) and Alanna Muello (South Windsor, CT) placing 20 and 23^rd in times of 55.06 and 55.54 seconds, respectively.
First Year Anna Little (Irwin, PA) placed fourth on Saturday evening in the 200-yarda breaststroke swimming a finals time of 2:26.27.
Lara Chebotarev (East Longmeadow, MA) tied for 12^th place in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:33.71 and Frances Pope (Orinda, CA) placed 24^th in the event with a time of 2:39.63.
The 'A' 400-yard freestyle relay team of Alejandra Robins (El Cerrito, CA), Hoagland, McLaughlin and Wiener turned in a strong swim with a fourth-place finish in a time of 3:32.03.
The 'B' 400-yard freestyle squad of Muello, Vietti, Luongo and Quintana closed the meet with a time of 3:36.45.
