Brewers Swim To Fifth-Place Finish At Liberty League Championship

Wiener, Hoagland earn top-5 finishes in 1,650-yard freestyle

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team wrapped up the Liberty League Championship on Saturday in fifth-place with a score of 888.5 points. The Brewers featured four that placed inside the top-5 in their respective events, including Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) and Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) who finished third and fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Ithaca won the team championship with 1,820 points and was followed by RPI (1,430.5), Skidmore (1,032.5), RIT (972.5), Vassar (888.5), Union (539), William Smith (428), St. Lawrence (415), Clarkson (385) and Bard (140).

For The Brewers

Wiener finished a strong championship meet that featured a win in the 500-yard freestyle and a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a third-place showing on Saturday in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Wiener finished the event with a time of 17:59.35.
Hoagland followed closely in fourth on Saturday, coming home in a time of 18:05.32.
A pair of First Years also turned in impressive finishes for the Brewers with Stella Petersen (Hockessin, DE) placing 12^th in 18:34.62 and Abigail Mirick (Stoneham, MA) taking the 21^st position in 21:02.35.
First Year Abigail Ford (Califon, NJ) posted a fifth-place finish for the Brewers on Saturday in the 100-ard freestyle, showing a time of 52.77 seconds.
Seniors Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) and Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Village, NJ) swam to 15^th and 20^th place finishes in times of 54.19 and 55.13 seconds, respectively.
First Year Clare Baker (Lafaytte, NJ) also had an impressive finish in the 200-yard backstroke, touching out in fifth-place in a time of 2:09.49.
Alaina Desautels (Alexandria, VA) and Vivien Li (Pittsburgh, PA) rounded out a trio of Brewers in the finals of the backstroke event, placing 16^th and 20^th in 2:14.05 and 2:17.00.
In the final individual event of the meet, Lara Chebotarev (East Longmeadow, MA) turned in an 11^th-place swim for Vassar in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.66.
Eva D'Addario (Baltimore, MD) placed 13^th for Vassar in 2:36.01 with Sophie Tran (Hillsborough, N) taking the 23^rd spot in 2:44.83.
Vassar's top entry in the 400-yard freestyle relay of Wiener, Hoagland, Ford and McLaughlin finished fifth after posting a time of 3:34.39.
The Brewers' second entry in the event of Baker, Stephanie Norris (Santa Barbara, CA), Desautels and Masters completed the race in a time of 3:43.17, good for 21^st-place.
