Wiener Wins 500-Yard Freestyle; Brewers Stand Fourth At Liberty League Championship

Wiener wins 500-yard freestyle for second straight year

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team closed out a strong opening day at the 2024 Liberty League Championship in fourth place with 224 points. Sophomore Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle on Wednesday for the second straight year.

For The Brewers

For the second straight season, Wiener swam past the field in the 500-yard freestyle, winning the event in a time of 5:04.88, besting the field by better than four seconds.
Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) gave the Brewers a pair of swimmers in the top-five in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming to a fifth-place finish in a time of 5:10.38.
Maleigha Vietti (Overland Park, KS) finished off a strong day for the Brewers with a 12^th place finish competing in the 'B' Final, completing the event in a time of 5:13.87.
The 200-yard individual medley was also a strong event on Wednesday for the Brewers that featured a pair of top-10 finishes.
Sophomore Bella Rippon (Hershey, PA) scored a runner-up finish for Vassar, touching out in a time of 2:08.88, shaving over three seconds off of Wednesday's preliminary swim.
Senior Alejandra Robins (El Cerrito, CA) swam to a ninth-place finish overall, finishing in a time of 2:12.65.
Stephanie Norris (Santa Barbara, CA) picked up a 20^th place finish for the Brewers, recording a time of 2:19.24.
Vassar had four swimmers score in the 50-yard freestyle, led by a 12^th place finish from Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) who touched out in a time of 24.60 seconds.
Maya Luongo (Katonah, NY) earned a 16^th place finish for the Brewers in a time of 25.00 seconds on Wednesday.
Swimming in the 'C' Final, Alanna Muello (South Windsor, CT) swam to a time of 25.26 seconds, good for 20^th place, with Lilly Masters (Bloomfield Hills, MI) following in the 21^st position in 25.51 seconds.
Vassar closed out a strong first day of events with a fourth-place finish in the 'A' Final of the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Sarah Quintana (Chandler, AZ), Anna Little (Irwin, PA), Rippon and McLaughlin produced a time of 1:48.06.
