Vassar Ranks Fifth After Day One Of Bomber Invitational

Wiener places third in 50-yard freestyle

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Women's Swimming and Diving team put together a strong first session at the Bomber Invitational on Friday, closing the first day of events in fifth place with 208 points. Addie Wiener (Maplewood, NJ) led Vassar with a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, while Abigail McLaughlin (Denver, CO) took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle.
 
For The Brewers
  • Winer led four swimmers in the 500-yard freestyle on Friday who produced season best times, taking the third position overall in a time of 5:11.22.
  • Quinn Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ) also swam to a top-10 finish in the 500-yard freestyle, taking the seventh spot in 5:13.29.
  • Sarah Quintana (Chandler, AZ) and Maleigha Vietti (Overland Park, KS) also turned in season best swims with times of 5:17.57 and 5:19.46, good for the 13th and 15th spots.
  • Bella Rippon (Hershey, PA) led the way for Vassar in the 200-yard individual medley, placing 13th overall in a season best time of 2:14.22.
  • Alejandra Robins (El Cerrito, CA) added a season best swim in the 200-yard individual medley, placing 16th overall in a time of 2:14.53.
  • First Year Lara Chebotarev (East Longmeadow, MA) turned in a lifetime best swim in the 200-yard individual medley, touching out in 2:18.89.
  • McLaughlin swan the best time in the last four seasons, taking fourth-place in the 50-yard freestyle in a season best time of 24.55 seconds.
  • Maya Luongo (Katonah, NY), Alanna Muello (South Windsor, CT) and Rippon all turned in season best times in the sprint freestyle event with times of 25.06, 25.17 and 25.55 seconds.
  • The Brewers finished off a strong night with a fourth-place showing in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Quintana, Anna Little (Irwin, PA), Muello and Luongo finished the event in a time of 1:49.99.
 
What's Next
  • The Brewers will be right back in the pool Saturday morning for Sesson II of the event before closing out day two of competition Saturday evening.
