Game Details
Tournament: Historical Meet
Teams: NYU, Columbia

Facility: Blue Gymnasium
Date: February 14, 2018

Last Time Out: Winning five last Saturday, the Brewers improved to 6-6 in conference action. Senior Annie Innes-Gold continued her success with an incredible 20-1 record in sabre on the day. For foil, juniors Sophie Blumenstock and Mirit Rutishauser had impressive outings, while junior Rose Hulsey-Vincent led epee.

A Look at the Brewers (17-23):
  • Picking up 5 victories last Saturday, the Brewers are just three wins short of a 20-win season. Should the Brewers hit this mark, it will be their fourth-consecutive season reaching that milestone.
  • The sabre team has posted the best numbers of the three squads, just six wins shy of a 200-win season. This .537 win percentage is the best sabre record in three years (2017 - .464 | 2016 - .493 | 2015 - .478).
  • Annie Innes-Gold is critical part of sabre's success, reaching triple-digits Saturday, now 100-19 on the season.
  • After adding 16 wins Saturday, junior competitor Sophie Blumenstock improved to 27-12, leading the Brewer foil crew.
  • Squad partner Rutishauser has chalked up 69 wins to date, the second-highest number of victories for the Brewers, leading all foil competitors.
  • Junior Rose Hulsey-Vincent jumped right back into her rhythm after a semester away, picking up 14 epee wins Saturday to improve to 24-13.
  • Shannon Chen holds a squad high 28 wins in epee.
A Look at the Lions (20-3):
  • Columbia is currently ranked 2nd in the country.
  • 10 Columbia fencers have won at least 20 battles this season.
  • Look out for the Lions epee squad. They have dropped just two contests all year, both 4-5, to Notre Dame and St. Johns.
  • Sophomore Giana Vierheller is an epee force, posting 30 wins to date. Squad teammate senior Audrey Yun adds 25.
  • Junior Quinn Crum and sophomore Ester Schreiber lead foil, combining for 60 wins to date.
  • Junior Iman Blow is 31-5 in her junior foil campaign, losing just one of her last 23.
  • Sophomore Violet Michel lead sabre with 28 wins.
A Look at the Bobcats (11-14):
  • Earlier this season, NYU picked up a 23-4 victory over Vassar. They have also already competed with Columbia, outscored 25 to 2.
  • Freshman foil competitor Tiffany Luong immediately made her mark at NYU, posting a team-high 50 wins.
  • Sabre teammate Jacqueline Tubbs holds NYU's highest win percentage (.714) with 40 wins on just 16 losses.
  • Anastasiya Muravyeva also boasts an impressive win percentage (.704) with 31 wins and 13 losses.
  • Both foil (117-108) and sabre (112-107) are having winning seasons.
  • Seven Bobcats have posted at least 20 wins, four of whom have winning records.
Up Next: The Brewers will head to Baltimore this weekend for the EWFC Championships on the campus of Johns Hopkins. The meet will commence at 9 a.m. on Sunday, February 18th.
