POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 24, 2018) – The Vassar College men's swimming and diving team will jump back into the pool for the first time in two weeks on Saturday afternoon, hosting the Setters of Pace University in non-conference action from Kresge Pool. The Brewers will look to rebound after falling to Trinity College back on January 13.

Last Time Out: The Brewers fell to Trinity College 172-106 last time out back on January 13, despite some strong races by many Vassar swimmers. Freshman
Max White was a winner in the 200 free and 100 butterfly, while senior
Jonah Strand captured the top spot in both breaststroke events while taking the 200 IM as well. Sophomore
Jordan Kalina also chalked up a 5:04.66 to take the 500 freestyle.
A Look At The Brewers (2-4):
- Vassar saw a big performance the last time out from freshman Finn Belanger, who chalked up three personal bests in the 500 free, 200 free and 50 backstroke.
- Fellow newcomer Danny Dunn registered a personal best in the 100 breast against Trinity with a time of 1:10.98.
- Senior Jonah Strand has the Liberty League's top time in the 100 breast coming into the weekend, chalking up a 58.23 at the Don Richards Invitational.
- Strand is also third in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:08.34, while his season best in the 200 IM of 1:58.90 is the second-best time thus far in the Liberty League.
- Sophomore Matthew Imiolek is tied for the Liberty League's 11th-best time in the 50 free this season, chalking up a 22.36 to lead the way for Vassar.
- Sophomore Jordan Kalina is ranked in the top eight in both the 500 and 1000 free events, chalking up the league's seventh-best time in the 500 with a 5:02.88.
- Freshman Max White is in the Liberty League's top five in three different events, while his 1:57.99 in the 200 back is over a second faster than the next best time.
- VC's medley relay over 200 yards ranks third-fastest in the Liberty League, chalking up a 1:38.94.
A Look At The Setters (3-4):
- The Setters of Pace University come into Saturday's meet after a Senior Day victory over Saint Rose with a score of 122-89.
- Brian Sosa chalked up a season-best time of 54.92 in the 100 backstroke, while Alex Young posted a 4:29.33 in the 400 IM for a season-best time.
- Andresious Cyprianos has posted the Setters' best 50 free time this season with a 22.25.
- Daniel Galarza has the team's top 200 free (1:48.17) and 500 free (4:49.25) times, while also pacing the squad in the 1000 free with a 9:57.68.
- Filip Turecky has the team's best times in both the 100 and 200 backstroke, chalking up a 52.98 in the 100 while registering a 1:58.48 in the 200 back.
- Alec Young is the top breaststroker for the Setters with a 2:20.78 in the 200 breast, while Junwoo Moon paces the 100 fly and Brian Sosa has the team's top 200 fly time.
- Galarza and Young are 1-2 in the 200 IM this season, led by Young's time of 2:02.48 while Galarza is right behind him with a 2:03.43.
Up Next: The Vassar men will have a mid-week road test January 31 at 6 p.m. in the Garden State, taking on Montclair State University before returning home next Saturday for Senior Day at the Vassar Sprint Invitational in Kresge Pool at 1 p.m.
