Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving team finished the 2026 Liberty League Championship in seventh-place on Saturday with a score of 522 points. The 400-yard freestyle relay team led the way on the final day with a seventh-place finish.
Ithaca won the team championship with 1,722 points with the rest of the field ranking: RIT (1,625.5), RPI (1,085), Clarkson (1,028.5), Union (686.5), Skidmore (630.5), Vassar (522), St. Lawrence (325), Hobart (272) and Bard (162).
For The Brewers
- First Year Jack Powers (Amherst, NY) posted the team's best individual on Saturday, scoring an 11th-place finish in the 1,650-freestyle with a time of 16:50.23.
- Senior Robin Auwaerter (Syracuse, NY) finished the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 18:04.54, good for the 20th position.
- Sophomore Laszlo Lawless (Monterrey, CA) rounded out a trio of Brewers to score in the meet's longest event with a 22nd-place finish in a time of 18:53.39.
- Vassar also saw three swimmers swim in the final session in the 200-yard backstroke, led by a 16th-place swim from John Gao (Ann Arbor, MI) who finished in a time of 1:59.77.
- Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) followed in 19th-place with a time of 2:01.36.
- Senior James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) came home in the 21st position for Vassar, showing a time of 2:04.69.
- In the 200-yard breaststroke, First Year Kieran Lakhan (Kensington, MD) closed out a strong rookie campaign with a 16th-place finish for the Brewers in a time of 2:12.60.
- Senior Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NV) and Sebastian Chang-Leung (Silver Spring, MD) competed in the 'C' final of the breaststroke event and finished 18th and 22nd in times of 2:16.50 and 2:20.37, respectively.
- Senior Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) and Eli House (Oneonta, NY) competed in the 'C' final of the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday and swam times of 48.55 and 49.02 seconds, good for the 20th and 22nd positions.
- Vassar closed the championship with a seventh-place swim in the 400-yard freestyle relay with the unit of Deluca, Seiss, Gao and House touching out in a time of 3:16.08.
- The Brewers' second entry in the relay placed 22nd with the team of Vuk Usina (Tallahassee, FL), Lakhan, Jacob Collette (Milford, CT) and Daniel Wang (Carlisle, MA) posting a time of 3:20.51.
