Brewers Rank Seventh Following Day Two Of Liberty League Championship

Deluca places ninth in 100-yard butterfly

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team closed the second day of events at the Liberty League Championship in seventh-place with a score of 197 points. Senior Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) posted the squad's best individual finish with a ninth-place showing in the 100-yard butterfly, while the 200-yard freestyle 'A' entry finished fifth.
 
Ithaca continues to lead the team event with a score of 863 points and the Bombers are followed by RIT (774.5), RPI (467), Clarkson (458.5), Union (255), Skidmore (242), Vassar (197), St. Lawrence (129), Hobart (122) and Bard (47).
 
For The Brewers
  • Deluca was the top finisher in the 'B' final of the 100-yard butterfly on Thursday, scoring a ninth-place overall finish with a personal best time of 50.97 seconds.
  • Also competing in the 'B' final of the 100-yard butterfly was Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) who shaved better than a half second off of his preliminary time. Seiss placed 14th overall in the event with a personal best time of 52.95 seconds.
  • James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) swam to a 22nd-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a season best time of 54.98 seconds.
  • First Year Elam Estella (Colorado Springs, CO) rounded out a quartet of Brewers in the 100-yard butterfly finals with a 23rd-place finish in a time of 55.34 seconds.
  • Vassar's 'A' entry in the 200-yard freestyle relay of Deluca, Daniel Wang (Carlisle, MA), John Gao (Ann Arbor, MI) and Eli House (Oneonta, NY) touched out fifth with a time of 1:27.35.
  • Three of the four legs of the relay swam sub 22 seconds with Deluca going 21.93 seconds, Wang swimming a 22.20, Gao touching out in 21.79 and House swimming a blistering anchor leg of 21.43 seconds.
  • Vassar's second entry in the relay of Vuk Usina (Tallahassee, FL), Robin Auwaerter (Syracuse, NY), Hatch and Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ) posted a 22nd-place finish with a time of 1:32.06.

  • Vassar continues the championship on Friday with preliminary swims beginning at 10:00 a.m.
