HARTFORD, CT (January 14, 2017) – The Vassar College men's swimming team competed in its first dual meet in two months, finishing a very busy couple of weeks as the Brewers were topped by New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) foe Trinity College 181-89 in action from the Trinity Natatorium Saturday.
The week has been a long one for Vassar, which was down in Islamorada, FL until Wednesday morning following an eight-day training trip in the Sunshine State. Vassar then had to turn around and travel on the road to Trinity, which swam a strong meet in earning the win.
Freshman
Jordan Kalina had a strong start to his meet on Saturday, as the newcomer posted a 10:27.31 to finish just over a second out of the top spot. Junior

Strand's second win came in the 200 breaststroke, as he ran away from the field with a 2:15.44, which was nearly 11 seconds better than the runner-up. Senior
Anthony Walker was second in both of his swims, as just missed the win in the 200 fly with a 2:00.61, being out-touched by Trinity's Liam Egan and his 2:00.46.
The same narrative was in the cards for Walker in the 100 butterfly, as Vassar's standout flyer was just nabbed at the wall after swimming a 53.76. Trinity's Greg Kalmiskii was .02 seconds faster than Walker to earn the win. Freshman
