INDUSTRY, CA (March 17, 2016) -- The Vassar College women's golf team finished its spring break trip to California on Thursday afternoon, taking on Whittier College in play from the Eisenhower Course at Industry Hills Golf Club.
The Brewers, who were playing 18 holes for the fifth straight day of the trip, dealt with warm conditions on the course while also trekking a very hilly course that was playing just under 6000 yards on the day. That did not affect the play of sophomore
Kristin Diep, as she won individual medalist honors with a winning score of 79. The six-over score for Diep was her best round of her season, while also marking the best score for her as a Brewer.
Junior
Emily Prince played in her home state for the first time as a Brewer this week, responding with a very strong round of 86. Freshman
Evon Shay was right behind Prince with an 87 on the day, while senior captain
Aimee Dubois chalked up an 88 for Vassar. Fellow senior captain
Angela Mentel carded an 89, and sophomore
Annie Hsu chalked up a 95 in her first round of the spring.
"It was a very hilly and hot day for them and I am very proud of how they kept fighting the whole round," said associate head coach Anna Ausanio. "This was the fifth consecutive day of playing 18 holes for the women and the course really tested their skills. Overall, I think our spring break training trip was very successful and I am looking forward to our upcoming tournaments when we get back."
The Brewers will return to the east coast to host the Vassar College Invitational April 9-10 at Casperkill Golf Club.
