Canton, NY – The Vassar College Women's Golf team closed out the first event of the season on Sunday, placing fifth at the St. Lawrence Invitational with a score of 747. Junior
Sophia Calvillo (Long Beach, CA) led the Brewers with a 10
th-place finish.
Ithaca won the team event with a score of 644, finishing 14 strokes clear of second-place Union. Cortland placed third (672), St. Lawrence took fourth (711), Vassar finished fifth and William Smith closed the event in sixth-place (866).
Union's Iyene Essien and Cortland's Gina Milazzo tied for medalist honors with two-round scores of 151.
For The Brewers
- Calvillo finished the weekend with a second-round score of 88 to close the event with a two-day score of 171. Calvillo's second round featured a birdie on the par-5 18th hole and six pars.
- Sophomore Iesha DeSilva (Dayton, MD) carded a 93 on Sunday for a two-round score of 184, good for 21st-place overall.
- Senior Katrina Wu (Great Neck, NY) improved her first round score by nine strokes, carding an 89 on Sunday for a total score of 187, placing 22nd overall. Wu birdied the par-5 18th hole Sunday for the Brewers.
- First Year Lili Proctor (Evanston, IL) improved by seven strokes on Sunday, finishing with a 99 on Sunday, placing 28th for the Brewers.

- After a weekend off, Vassar returns to action on September 20 when it begins play at the Union Fall Invitational.
