Calvillo Victorious At Wintonbury Hills Match

Junior earns medalist honors

Bloomfield, CT – Vassar College junior Sophia Calvillo (Long Beach, CA) earned her first career victory on Saturday, earning medalist honors at the Wintonbury Hills One-Day Match hosted by Hartford. Calvillo finished in first-place by five strokes with the Brewers posting a team score of 316.

Suffolk won the team event with a score of 348, finishing 10 stroke clear of the host Hawks. Vassar finished in third-place, three strokes behind Hartford.

For The Brewers

Calvillo was the only player to break 80 on Saturday, carding a first-place score of 75. Calvillo's round featured 11 pars and a birdie on the par-three 12^th hole.
Katrina Wu (Great Neck, NY) was Vassar's second finisher, placing eighth overall with a score of 91.
Sophomore Iesha DeSilva (Dayton, MD) finished in a three-way tie for 10^th place after carding a 94 for the Brewers.
First Year Lili Proctor (Evanston, IL) closed the day in 15^th place on Saturday, making her way around the course in 101 strokes.

Vassar closes the fall schedule at the Hamilton Invitational October 4-5.
