Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team continued competition at the 2025 Liberty League Championship with preliminary swims Friday morning. Sophomore
Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) finished the morning session qualifying third in the 100-yard backstroke for the Brewers.
Jauregui had a strong swim for Vassar Friday morning, advancing to the 'A' final with a time of 51.50 seconds. Jauregui was one of three Brewers to qualify for the finals in the event with
Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ) and
James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) earning spots in the 'C' final. Hatch posted a time of 1:02.86 while Furman touched out in a lifetime best time of 58.50 seconds.
The Brewers placed four swimmers in Friday evening's finals in the 200-yard butterfly. First Year
Andrew Song (Wellesley, MA) will compete in the 'B' final after racing to a season best time of 1:58.86 in Friday morning's preliminary session. Senior
Tyler Tsukuda (Ranco Cucamonga, CA) produced a season-best time of 2:07.76 and will swim in the 'C' final joined by
Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) and
Matthew Short (Scituate, MA) who each finished in lifetime best times of 2:02.30 and 2:06.28, respectively.
Vassar also had a successful morning in the 100-yard breaststroke, advancing four swimmers into the finals. First Years
Eli House (Oneonta, NY) and
John Gao (Ann Arbor, MI) each posted season-best marks of 1:00.82 and 1:01.13 for the Brewers. First Year
Noah Rich (Dover, NH) swam to a lifetime best mark of 1:02.00 and senior
Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) also achieved a lifetime best in the event with a time of 1:01.45.
The Brewers saw both of their 200-yard medley relay teams swim through to the finals on Friday. The A entry of Jauregui, Gao,
Mike Seaton (Hoboken, NJ) and Ehrenfeld qualified sixth in a time of 1:35.55. The B entry of Song, House, Seiss and
Daniel Wang (Carlisle, MA) advanced with a time of 1:41.26.
The B 800-yard freestyle relay team of
Robin Auwaerter (Syracuse, NY), Tsukuda,
Laszlo Lawless (Monterey, CA) and Rich closed out Friday's morning session with a time of 7:49.48. The A entry of the 800-yard freestyle relay will be in action during Friday's final session.
Friday's final session will start at 6:00 p.m.
