Ithaca, NY – The 200-yard medley relay team set a new school record and sophomore
Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) was the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday at the 2025 Liberty League Championship. The Brewers rank sixth as a team with 434 points through three days of events.
RIT holds the team lead with 1,313 points with and is followed by Ithaca (1,137), RPI (996), Skidmore (619), Clarkson (604), Vassar (434), Union (248), Hobart (177), Bard (137) and St. Lawrence (128).
For The Brewers
- The 200-yard medley relay team is the third relay squad to put its name on the record board over the first three days of the championship.
- The quartet of Jauregui, John Gao (Ann Arbor, MI), Mike Seaton (Hoboken, NJ) and Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) posted a time of 1:33.03, good for fourth-place, clipping the previous mark of 1:33.39 set at last year's championship.
- Vassar's B entry in the event also had a strong swim with the team of Andrew Song (Wellesley, MA), Eli House (Oneonta, NY), Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) and Daniel Wang (Carlisle, MA) placing 22nd in a time of 1:40.43.
- To close the evening, the A 800-yard freestyle relay team of Jacob Collette (Milford, CT), Seiss, Matthew Short (Scituate, MA) and Song finished sixth with a time of 7:30.34.
- Jauregui had the best individual finish for the Brewers Friday evening, taking second-place in the 100-yard backstroke after touching out in a time of 50.24 seconds.
- Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ) swam a lifetime best mark of 57.92 seconds, good for 17th-place.
- James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) finished 19th for the Brewers in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 1:00.67.
- Vassar had four swimmers in action in the 200-yard butterfly on Friday with Song leading the way with a 16th-place finish in a time of 2:00.20.
- Seiss came home in 17th-place in a lifetime best time of 2:00.59.
- Short and senior Tyler Tsukuda (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) also had strong swims, placing 22nd and 24th in times of 2:07.66 and 2:08.49, respectively.
- A quartet of Brewers all finished with lifetime best swims in the 100-yard breaststroke, led by Ehrenfeld who placed 17th in a time of 59.72 seconds.
- House followed closely in 18th with a time of 1:00.29.
- Rounding out the lifetime best times were Gao in 21st-place in 1:00.90 and Noah Rich (Dover, NH) in the 24th slot with a time of 1:01.59.
