Women's Fencing Places Sixth at EWFC Championships

Sabre squad leads the way with a record of 28-17

Madison, NJ - The Vassar College Women's Fencing team earned victories over Haverford and Hunter at the EWFC Championships as the Brewers earned a sixth place team finish, led by the sabre squad of senior Kira Wheeler, junior Abigail Geiger, first year Lily Paine and first year Vivian Wei who finished with a record of 28-17 on the day.

  • Epee - TUF 6 VC 3
    • Barnes, Hirch and Xie all picked up a victory.
    • Golden also battled in one bout.
  • Foil - TUF 9 VC 0
    • North and sophomore Elena Rosenmayr each fenced in three bouts.
    • Gadiyaram battled in two bouts along with Ezell competing in one bout.
  • Sabre - TUF 6 VC 3
    • Wheeler tallied two victories while Wei earned a win.
    • Paine battled in three bouts.
Denison 22 VC 5
  • Epee - DEN 7 VC 2
    • Barnes tallied the two victories in the round.
    • Golden battled in three bouts along with Hirsch competing in two and Xie fencing in one.
  • Foil - DEN 8 VC 1
    • North earned a victory while Ezell and Gadiyaram fenced in three bouts.
  • Sabre - DEN 7 VC 2
    • Wei secured two victories while Geiger and Paine each battled in three bouts.

    • Barnes. Hirsch and Xie all earned two victories.

    • Gadiyaram scored two victories along with Ezell and North each adding a win.

    • Geiger and Wheeler both tallied undefeated 3-0 rounds.
