Vassar Has Strong Prelim Session On Day Two Of Bomber Invitational

Deluca swims lifetime best in the 100-yard butterfly

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team had a strong preliminary session Friday morning at the Bomber Invitational, advancing 19 individuals to the final session with a trio of Brewers qualifying for the 'A' final in their respective events. Senior Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) posted a lifetime best swim for the Brewers in the 100-yard butterfly.

For The Brewers

Deluca added another lifetime best swim on Friday morning, qualifying for the 'A' final in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.43 seconds.
First Year Kieran Lakhan (Kensington, MD) swam into the 'A' final set for Friday evening in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.51 seconds.
Lakhan also advanced to the finals of the 100-yard butterfly with a 53.24 seconds swim Friday morning.
Junior Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) will swim in the 'A' final in the 100-yard backstroke after qualifying sixth in the event with a time of 51.87 seconds.
John Gao (Ann Arbor, MI) will swim in a pair of 'B' finals Friday night, qualifying in both the 100-yard butterfly (54.97) and 100-yard backstroke (54.45).
Eli House (Oneonta, NY) will swim in the 'B' final of the 100-yard breaststroke for the Brewers after posting a prelim time of 1:01.64.
Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) and James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) each qualified for the 'B' final of the 100-yard backstroke after posting times of 55.63 seconds and 58.59 seconds Friday morning.
Alex Graber (Harrison, NY) and Matthew Short (Scituate, MA) will compete in the 'B' final of the 400-yard individual medley Friday evening after touching out in times of 4:39.06 and 4:43.90 Friday morning.
Elam Estella (Colorado Springs, CO) and Short will both swim in the 'C' final of the 100-yard butterfly for the Brewers after posting prelim times of 55.39 seconds and 57.29 seconds in Friday's prelim session.
A trio of Brewers will compete Friday night in the 'C' final of the 100-yard breaststroke with Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NC), Sebastian Chang-Leung (Silver Spring, MD) and Noah Rich (Dover, NH) swimming times of 1:02.93, 1:04.67 and 1:05.53, respectively.
Vassar also saw three swimmers advance to the 'C' final of the 200-yard freestyle Friday morning.
Jack Powers (Amherst, NY), Jacob Collette (Milford, CT) and Robin Auwaerter (Syracuse, NY) finished 18^th, 22^nd and 24^th in the prelim session with times of 1:53.94, 1:55.04 and 1:56.72.
The 800-yard freestyle relay team also had a strong swim on Friday morning with the team of Graber, Auwaerter, Collette and Rich taking fourth in a time of 7:49.31.
