Brewers Swim To Fourth-Place Finish At Bomber Invitational

Brewers post four top-10 individual finishes on Saturday

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team closed a strong weekend at the Bomber Invitational with a fourth-place finish, totaling 956 points. Five Brewers posted top-10 individual results on Saturday with Jack Powers (Amherst, NY), Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) and Elam Estella (Colorado Springs, CO) swimming to eighth-place finishes.
 
Ithaca won the team event over the three-day meet with 2,707 points and was followed by Rochester (1,417), Alfred (1,097), Vassar (956), Union (936) and Hobart (552).
 
For The Brewers
  • Powers led four Brewers to score in the event's longest event, posting a time of 17:10.83 in the 1,650-yard freestyle which was good for eighth-place overall.
  • Jauregui swam to an eighth-place finish on Saturday in the 200-yard backstroke, touching out in a time of 1:55.45.
  • Estella was eighth for the Brewers in the 200-yard butterfly after swimming to a time of 2:05.70.
  • First Year Kieran Lakhan (Kensington, MD) produced a 10th-place finish for the Brewers in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.47.
  • Matthew Short (Scituate, MA) touched out 10th on Saturday in the 200-yard butterfly after posting a time of 2:07.27.
  • Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) and James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) placed 12th and 14th in the 200-yard backstroke, showing times of 2:01.63 and 2:08.10, respectively.
  • Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NV), Noah Rich (Dover, NH) and Sebastian Chang-Leung (Silver Spring, MD) placed 13th, 14th and 15th in the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:19.12, 2:21.40 and 2:22.08.
  • Alex Graber (Harrison, NY), Laszlo Lawless (Monterey, CA) and Robin Auwaerter (Syracuse, NY) followed Powers in the 1,650-yard freestyle with 14th, 16th and 17th-place finishes.
  • Eli House (Oneonta, NY) and Daniel Wang (Carlise, MA) were 20th and 24th in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 49.16 seconds and 52.57 seconds.
  • Vassar closed the event with two teams finishing in the top-10 of the 400-yard freestyle.
  • The first team of Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA), House, John Gao (Ann Arbor, MI) and Jauregui placed fourth with a time of 3:14.61.
  • The team of Seiss, Lakhan, Wang and Rich finished 10th, showing a time of 3:25.77.
 
What's Next
  • Vassar is off from competition until traveling to Trinity on January 13.
