Four Brewers Post Top-10 Individual Finishes At Bomber Invitational

Jauregui takes fourth in 100-yard backstroke

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team wrapped up competition on Day Two of the Bomber Invitational on Friday in fourth-place with 664 points. Four Brewers finished with top-10 individual performances on Friday led by a fourth-place showing from Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) in the 100-yard backstroke.

Ithaca leads the team event with 1,903 points and is followed by Rochester (981), Alfred (752), Vassar (664), Union (595) and Hobart (352).

For The Brewers

Jauregui finished the 100-yard backstroke in fourth-place with a time of 51.15 seconds in Friday's final.
Senior Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) swam to an eighth-place finish for Vassar in the 100-yard butterfly, improving his lifetime best in the event to 52.41 seconds.
First Year Kieran Lakhan (Kensington, MD) turned in an eighth-place swim for the Brewers on Friday in the 100-yard breaststroke, showing a time of 59.45 seconds.
Lakhan also posted an 11^th-place overall finish while swimming in the 'B' final of the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 52.98 seconds.
Eli House (Oneonta, NY) placed 10^th for Vassar in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching out in a time of 59.76 seconds.
Matthew Short (Scituate, MA) swam in the finals in both the 400-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly, posting a 12^th-place finish in the IM (4:47.04) and a 21^st-place finish in the butterfly (57.53).
Alex Graber (Harrison, NY) turned in a strong swim for the Brewers in the 400-yard individual medley, placing 11^th in a time of 4:38.38.
John Gao (Ann Arbor, MI) was in action in the 'B' final of the 100-yard butterfly, placing 16^th overall in 54.45 seconds and the 'B' final of the 100-yard backstroke taking 11^th in 55.06 seconds.
Elam Estella (Colorado Springs, CO) and James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) finished 18^th and 19^th in the 100-yard butterfly in times of 55.22 seconds and 55.74 seconds, respectively.
Hatch along with Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) competed in the 'B' final of the 100-yard backstroke and finished 14^th and 12^th in 58.68 seconds and 55.37 seconds.
A trio of Brewers swam in the 200-yard freestyle 'C' final with Jack Powers (Amherst, NY), Jacob Collette (Milford, CT) and Robin Auwaerter (Syracuse, NY) swimming times of 1:51.33, 1:54.56 and 1:57.51.
Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NV), Sebastian Chang-Leung (Silver Spring, MD) and Noah Rich (Dover, NH) represented Vassar in the 100-yard breaststroke and posted times of 1:03.55, 1:03.85 and 1:04.03.
Two relays were contested on Friday with the top 200-yard medley team of Jauregui, Lakhan, Deluca and House placing fourth in a time of 1:35.74.
The second entry of Gao, Kurosawa, Estella and Daniel Wang (Carlisle, MA) placed eighth in 1:41.15.
To close the night, the 800-yard freestyle team of Seiss, Lakhan, Deluca and Powers swam to a fifth-place finish in 7:39.93.
Graber, Auwaerter, Collette and Rich finished the event in 10^th-place in a time of 7:49.31.

What's Next

The final day of events is set for Saturday with preliminary swims starting at 9:00 a.m.
