Women's Fencing Earns Three Victories at the Tradition Invite

Brewers score three wins out of six rounds of action

Poughkeepsie, NY - The Vassar College Women's Fencing team competed in its second home meet of the season as the Brewers scored victories over Sacred Heart, LIU and NJIT at Walker Field House on Sunday afternoon.

Round One - NYU 22 VC 5 Round Two - VC 14 SHU 13
  • Epee - SHU 6 VC 3
  • Foil - VC 5 SHU 4
    • North and Ezell each earned two wins while sophomore Aurelia Cacace earned a win.
    • Wang battled in one bout in the round.
  • Sabre - VC 6 SHU 3
    • Wei scored three victories along with Wheeler earning two wins and Paine tallying a victory.
Round Four - PRIN 20 VC 7
  • Epee - PRIN 8 VC 1
    • Golden scored a victory while Barnes and first year Lora Janczewski each competed in three bouts.
  • Foil - PRIN 6 VC 3
  • Sabre - PRIN 6 VC 3
    • Wheeler, Paine and Wei each collected a victory.
Round Five - VC 15 LIU 12
  • Epee - VC 5 LIU 4
    • Hirsch and Ungurianu each tallied two victories along with Xie adding a win.
  • Foil - LIU 5 VC 4
    • North and Ezell earned two victories each while Wang battled in three bouts.
  • Sabre - VC 6 LIU 3
    • Wei, Paine and Wheeler all earned two wins apiece.
Round Six - TEM 22 VC 5
  • Epee - TEM 7 VC 2
    • Hirsch and Golden each scored a win while sophomore Katrina Zeng battled in three bouts and Xie fenced in one.
  • Foil - TEM 9 VC 0
    • North and Cacace battled in three bouts each while Ezell fenced in two and Wang battled in one.
  • Sabre - TEM 6 VC 3
    • Wei, Wheeler and Paine each scored a win along with sophomore Karina Mangru battled in one bout.
Round Seven - VC 14 NJIT 13
  • Epee - VC 6 NJIT 3
    • Golden secured an undefeated 3-0 mark along with Zeng and Hirsch each scored a victory
  • Foil - NJIT 9 VC 0
    • Rosenmayr and Wang each fenced in three bouts while Cacace battled in two and North competed in one.
  • Sabre - VC 8 NJIT 1
    • Wei and Paine each posted perfect 3-0 rounds while Wheeler earned two victories
