Men’s Swimming And Diving Has Strong Day At Bomber Invitational

Jauregui places second in 100-yard backstroke

Ithaca, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team continued competition at the Bomber Invitational on Saturday, ranking sixth out of eight teams with 409 points. Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) scored the Brewers' best individual finish with a runner-up showing in the 100-yard backstroke.

For The Brewers

Jauregui took the second spot in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.72 seconds, just off his own school record pace of 50.27.
First Year Andrew Song (Wellesley, MA) turned in a pair of eighth-place swims, competing in the 'A' Final in both the 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard IM. Song swam to a time of 2:03.60 in the butterfly event before posting a time of 4:23.18 in the IM race.
Senior Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) posted a 12^th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, touching out in a time of 21.39 seconds, just .09 seconds off the school record pace in the event.
Ehrenfeld added a 13^th-place showing for the Brewers in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:01.38.
First Year Eli House (Oneonta, NY) scored an 11^th-place swim competing in the 'B' final of the 100-yard breaststroke, racing to a time of 1:01.34.
Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) posted an 11^th-place finish in the 'B' final of the 200-yard butterfly, touching out in a time of 2:03.36.
John Gao also scored an 11^th-place finish for the Brewers, swimming to a time of 54.10 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke.
Matthew Short (Scituate, MA) took 13^th for the Brewers while swimming in the 'B' final of the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:08.46.
James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) swam to an 18^th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, showing a time of 57.86 seconds.
Tyler Tsukuda (Ranco Cucamonga, CA) turned in a strong second day, taking 16^th in the 200-yard butterfly and 19^th in the 100-yard backstroke.
Vassar received strong showings from each of its four relay teams on Saturday.
The team of Ehrenfeld, Gao, Seaton and Jauregui posted a time of 1:26.62 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, good for sixth-place.
Vassar's other entry in the event took 14^th-place with the team of House, Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ), Seiss and Croix Horsley (Cinnaminson, NJ) posting a time of 1:32.09.
To close the evening the team of Jauregui, House, Seaton and Ehrenfeld finished ninth in the 400-yard medley relay team with a time of 3:31.65.
The team of Song, Gao, Hatch and Furman came home in 13^th-place after swimming a time of 3:41.49.

What's Next

The Brewers will close out the three-day event on Sunday with prelim swims starting at 9:00 a.m. with finals following at 6:00 p.m.
