Northampton, MA - Three Brewers reached the round of eight at the Big One for the Vassar Women's Fencing team, led by sophomore Zoe North reaching the semifinals in foil. Senior Addy Xie reached the round of eight in epee for the Brewers along with first year Vivian Wei getting to the round of eight in sabre.

Epee

• Pool Round
  • Sophomore Aurelia Cacace earned three wins in pool #1 to earn the 42 seed and take the 26 seed in the opening tableau.
  • Senior Olivia Barnes posted a perfect 6-0 mark in pool #2 to earn the three seed and earn a bye from the first tableau.
  • First year Lora Janczewski tallied four victories in pool #4 to earn the 29 seed and gain the 13 seed in the first tableau.
  • Senior Danielle Golden earned four victories in pool #6 to earn the 27 seed and earn the 11 seed in the first tableau.
  • Senior Naomi Hirsch scored four wins in pool #7 to earn the 28 seed and take the 12 seed in the first tableau.
  • Senior Addy Xie tallied an undefeated 5-0 mark in pool #9 to earn the five seed and earn a bye from the first tableau.
  • Sophomore Katrina Zeng earned five wins in pool #10 to earn the 12 seed and earn a bye from the first tableau.
  • First year Nika Ungurianu collected an undefeated 5-0 round in pool #11 to earn the six seed and earn a bye from the opening tableau.
• Direct Elimination
  • Hirsch earned a bye to the second round before falling to 21 seed Kirsten Szala-Krotkov (UMass).
  • Janczewski also earned a bye to the second round before suffering a defeat to 20 seed Michelle Sotelo (MIT).
  • Golden earned a bye and tallied a win over 22 seed Sawyer Jane Segall (Tufts) before falling to eight seed Nikita Bajaj (Northeastern) in the round of 32.
  • Cacace collected two wins to advance to the round of 32 as the sophomroe defeated Bianca Hanly (MIT) and Parinitha Venkata Reddy (UMass). Cacace fell in the round of 32 against two seed Maria Alvim (Sacred Heart)
  • Barnes advanced to the round of 16 with a win over Dannan Page (UConn) before falling to 14 seed Julia Lin (Dartmouth) 15-14.
  • Xie earned a win over Sotelo to advance to the round of 16 and cruised to the round of eight with a victory over Gabrielle Phelan (Sacred Heart). Xie battled four seed Eunic Choi (MIT) in the round of eight and fell 15-9.

Foil

• Pool Round
  • Senior Nicole Ezell scored five victories in pool #2 to earn the 13 seed and advance to the main tableau.
  • First year Sushama Gadiyaram tallied two wins in pool #3 to earn the 43 seed and seed 27th in the opening tableau.
  • Sophomore Elena Rosenmayr picked up a victory in pool #6.
  • First year Kelsey Wang earned three victories in pool #7 to earn the 35 seed and earn the 19 seed in the first tableau.
  • Sophomore Zoe North posted an undefeated 6-0 mark in pool #8 to earn the top seed and earn a bye from the opening tableau.
• Direct Elimination
  • Wang battled 14-T Chloe Meyer (Rhode Island) and fell 15-10 in the opening round.
  • Gadiyaram earned a win over Rylee Moore (Mount Holyoke) and advanced to the round of 32 with a triumph over Adelaide Mahoney (UMass). Gadiyaram fell to North in the round of 32.
  • After the first tableau bye, Ezell fell in the round of 32 to 20 seed Sydney Guan (Tufts)
  • North collected a round of 32 victory over Gadiyaram before defeating 16 seed Rhea Menon to advance to the round of eight. North earned a victory over eight seed Jenna Jacinto (Sacred Heart) before falling in the semifinals against 12 seed Angela Yuan (MIT)

Sabre

• Pool Round
  • First year Lily Paine scored four victories in pool #2 to earn the 22 seed and the six seed in the first tableau.
  • Sophomore Karina Mangru tallied two wins in pool #3 to earn the 44 seed and the 28 seed in the first tableau.
  • First year Vivian Wei posted an undefeated 6-0 mark in pool #6 to earn a bye from the first tableau as the six seed.
  • Senior Kira Wheeler earned four victories in pool #10 to earn the 17 seed and the top seed in the first tableau.
• Direct Elimination
  • As the top seed, Wheeler earned a bye to the round of 32 where Wheeler triumphed over Elsa Mortensen (Boston U) and then earned a victory over Xiaoan Wu (Boston U) to advance to the round of 16. Wheeler fell to top-seeded Hannah Tao (MIT) in the round of 16.
  • Mangru battled Bowdoin's Cindy Hong in the round of 64 and fell 15-9.
  • Paine earned a bye to the round of 32 where the first year earned a victory over Molly Rourke (UConn) to advance before falling to 11 seed Angelina Kofman (Northeastern).
  • Wei earned a bye into the final tableau as she defeated Ashley Ochoa (Northeastern) and followed it up with a win over Kofman to advance to the round of eight. Wei fell in the round of eight to third-seeded and eventual champion Catherine Tang (MIT) 15-11.
