Women's Fencing Competes at Vassar Invitational

Brewers earn four team victories

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Vassar College Women's Fencing team posted a 4-2 mark at the Vassar Invitational on Sunday as the Brewers were led by the epee squad who posted an impressive 44-10 mark.

ROUND ONE - DEN 21 VC 6

Epee - DEN 5 VC 4
- Junior Olivia Barnes and sophomore Sarah Boucher-Rowe each tallied two wins.
- First year Katrina Zeng fenced in three bouts.
Foil - DEN 9 VC 0
- First years Aurelia Cacace and Zoe North along with junior Nicole Ezell each battled in three bouts.
Sabre - DEN 7 VC 2
- Junior Kira Wheeler and sophomore Vanessa Mark each recorded a win.
- Sophomore Abigail Geiger competed in three bouts.

ROUND TWO - VC 16 LAF 11

Epee - VC 8 LAF 1
- Boucher-Rowe and Barnes went undefeated while Zeng tallied two victories.
Foil - LAF 6 VC 3
- North recorded two wins and Ezell added a victory.
- Cacace battled in three bouts.
Sabre - VC 5 LAF 4
- Geiger and Wheeler each picked up two wins along with Mark earning a win.

ROUND THREE - VC 24 HUNT 3

Epee - VC 9 HUNT 0
- Juniors Addy Xie and Danielle Golden and sophomore Aanya Mukherjee each went undefeated at 3-0.
Foil - VC 8 HUNT 1
- North and Ezell each scored a perfect 3-0 mark while Cacace scored two wins.
Sabre - VC 7 HUNT 2
- Mark and Wheeler each scored three wins while Geiger tallied a victory.
- First year Karina Mangru battled in two bouts.

ROUND FOUR - DREW 14 VC 13

Epee - VC 5 DREW 4
- Zeng and Barnes each scored two wins while Xie added a win.
Foil - DREW 6 VC 3
- Ezell earned two victories while North picked up a win.
- Cacace battled in three bouts for Vassar.
Sabre - VC 5 DREW 4
- Geiger posted an undefeated 3-0 mark while Mark and Wheeler each had a win.

ROUND SEVEN - VC 22 FDU 5

Epee - VC 9 FDU 0
- Zeng, Boucher-Rowe and Golden all finished with three victories.
Foil - FDU 5 VC 4
- North posted a perfect 3-0 mark while Ezell scored a win.
- Cacace competed in three bouts.
Sabre - VC 9 FDU 0
- Geiger, Mark and Wheeler all posted 3-0 undefeated marks.

ROUND EIGHT - VC 19 HAV 8

Epee - VC 9 HAV 0
- Xie, Barnes and Boucher-Rowe all post 3-0 marks.
Foil - HAV 5 VC 4
- North goes undefeated at 3-0 and Ezell adds a victory.
- Cacace battled in three bouts.
Sabre - VC 6 HAV 3
- Geiger went 3-0 at sabre while Mark tallied two wins and Wheeler added one.
