Three Garner USTFCCCA All-Region Honors from Track & Field

Stevens, Mayer and Takiguchi garner All-Region recognition

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its All-Region honorees for the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season and three Vassar College student-athletes were honored. The top-five individuals in each event from each region garnered All-Region honors in 2022.

Rising sophomore Faye Stevens was recognized from the women's squad for her efforts in the heptathlon, while rising junior Aidan Mayer and incoming senior Miles Takiguchi were honored on the men's side in the 3000-meter steeplechase and the 10000-meter run, respectively.

Stevens, who hails from Bethel, VT, had an outstanding rookie season for the Brewers with multiple program records set. Highlighting her season was a fourth-place finish at the Silfen Invitational where she posted 3,569 points in the heptathlon. Stevens also won the 400-meter hurdles at the Farley Invite, where she also took second in the javelin.

At the Liberty League Championships, Stevens shined, finishing fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a program record time of 1:06.85 and was ninth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.80. Stevens concluded her rookie campaign in outstanding form, earning seventh overall in the heptathlon at the AARTFC Championships, where she recorded a program record of 3,893 points.

Mayer, a native of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, had a fantastic sophomore campaign, including a league title. He won the 3000-meter steeple chase at the Ramapo Invite, followed by third overall at the Vassar Invite in the 1500-meter event.

Earning a second-place finish in the steeple at the Silfen Invite, Mayer competed at the Penn Relays and went on to break the meet and school record at the Liberty League Championships, earning All-League First Team in the steeplechase with a time of 9:20.87. Mayer's season also concluded at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals as he placed seventh overall in the steeple with a time of 9:23.46.  

Takiguchi, a Portland, OR native, saw his junior season packed with personal and program records from start to finish. He opened the season with a personal-best in the 800-meter run at the Washington & Lee Carnival, followed by a personal record in the 5k at the Vassar College Invite.

After finishing second at the Silfen Invitational in the 10,000-meter with a program record time of 30:00.98, Takiguchi competed at the historic Penn Relays, posting a time of 30:30.94 in the 10k. At the Liberty League Championships, Takiguchi earned First Team honors as he won the 10k in a time of 30:13.51, finishing his season at the Regional Championships where he was third overall in the 10k.
