Women's Swimming & Diving Remains 3rd Following Day 2

Brewers continue outstanding efforts at Bombers Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. – Another outstanding session of swimming & diving wrapped up on Saturday as the Vassar College men's and women's squads continued action at the 2022 Bombers Invitational, hosted by Ithaca College. After the third session, the Brewers women sit 3rd of 10 teams, while the Vassar men's squad is sixth of nine participating squads.

An afternoon session of diving kicked things off as senior Evelyn Boyle competed on the 1-meter board, notching a score of 330.80 points to take 15th overall in a very competitive field. In the men's 3-meter event, sophomore Jacob Cerone recorded a score of 281.55 points for eighth overall.

A strong effort in the 200-butterfly led off for the Brewers women as junior Alejandra Robins took third overall in the event with a time of 2:11.42. Senior Lillian Lowenthal was close behind, earning fifth with a time of 2:13.49, while classmate Grace Myers was nineth with a mark of 2:16.70. In the men's race, senior Jason Albaum paced the way, earning eighth overall in 1:59.65.

The 100-backstroke was up next as rookie Bella Rippon powered her way to fourth overall in 59.14. Junior Sarah Quintana was fifth overall in 59.43. The men's event saw rookie Sam Deluca finish 23rd overall in 56.71.

Rookie Abbe Colgan powered her way to third overall in the 100-breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:07.33, while the men's race saw senior Anthony Cheng finish 10th overall with a mark of 1:00.14.

Next up was the 800-freestyle relay as the foursome of rookie Addie Wiener, Quintana, Myers and rookie Abigail McLaughlin swam to third overall in 7:53.13. The men's race was also a strong third place finish for the Brewers as Albaum, senior Robbie Perot, junior Lukas Johnson and sophomore Ben Glazebnik notched a time of 7:09.63.

Through 30 events, the Ithaca Bombers lead the women's standings with 1,206 points. Hamilton is second with 1020 points, while Vassar rounds out the top three with 817.5 points. The University of Rochester (678) and Le Moyne (435) close out the fourth and fifth spots.

On the men's side, the University of Rochester holds a narrow lead with 1,171.5 points over Ithaca with 1,151.5 points. Hamilton is third (718), while Alfred (516.5), Hartwick (469) and Vassar (448) round out the top six.

Action at the Bombers Invitational concludes on Sunday beginning at 9am.
