POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Vassar College Women's Fencing team hosted its first home meet of the season on Sunday at Walker Field House for the Vassar Invitational. Freshman
Abigail Geiger posted a 16-4 record at Sabre on the day for the Brewers.
The Brewers fenced in six rounds on Sunday as they defeated Haverford 17-10 in round one while epee led the way with a 8-1 record. Sophomore

Sarah Boucher-Rowe each went undefeated as sophomore
Danielle Golden tallied two wins. Junior
Hunter Grogan went undefeated in foil and Geiger and senior
Elise Poniatowski each won twice at Sabre.
After dropping rounds against Lafayette (11-16) and LIU (10-17), Vassar bounced back with a hard fought 14-13 victory over Drew. Geiger went undefeated once again at Sabre while Barnes and Golden also went 3-0 at epee to carry the Brewers to victory.
Vassar fell 7-20 to Wagner in round five before returning to the win column with a strong 24-3 decision over FDU in round seven. Geiger went 3-0 at Sabre to improve her record to 14-3 while Poniatowski and freshman
Vanessa Mark (McLean, VA) won twice. Sophomore
Naomi Hirsch went undefeated at foil in the round along with Grogan. Epee went 9-0 behind three wins each from Golden, senior
Carter Mucha and freshman
Alisha Arden.
The Brewers finished the day at 3-3 overall while the epee squad led the way with a 41-22 record as Sabre was 30-33 overall and foil finished at 23-40 on the day.
Vassar returns to action at the last home meet of the season for the Matt Lampell Invite. The meet at Walker Field House is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
