POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The 2021 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all eight regions and Vassar College saw student-athlete Ezra Caspi recognized. The sophomore designated hitter (DH) was tabbed to the All-New York Region Third Team following his outstanding season for the Brewers.

A native of Holmdel, N.J., Capsi had a strong campaign for Vassar in 2021, leading the team in a number of statistical categories. A starter in all 20 games, he paced the squad with a .418 batting average – which also ranked third amongst the Liberty League's best.

Caspi, who was an All-Liberty League First Team honoree this season as a DH, also led the Brewers in hits (28), runs (22) and slugging percentage (.642). He added three home runs, four doubles, a triple and six stolen bases as well. Additionally, he recorded nine multi-hit games with a season-best four hits against Ithaca. During the opening of the 2021 season, Caspi put together a seven-game hitting streak, while closing out the year on a nine-game hitting run.

In addition to ranking third in the Liberty League in batting average, Caspi was also sixth in slugging percentage and on-base percentage (.518). On a national scale, he was ranked 81st overall amongst all Division III players in batting average.
Caspi was solid during his pandemic shortened rookie season as well. He appeared in five games for the Brewers, including three as a starter. Caspi drove in his first collegiate run batted in against Oneonta on March 9, followed by his first collegiate home run against Juniata on March 13.

The Brewers finished the 2021 season with a 7-13 overall record during the COVID shortened season. The squad was 6-10 in Liberty League play, fighting for a playoff spot up to the very last day of the regular season.
