ANAHEIM, CA – After a four-day break in California, the Vassar men's tennis team rebounded for a 6-3 victory over Principia on Thursday afternoon. The Brewers were down 1-2 in doubles play, but a commanding 5-1 showing in singles pulled off the victory.
 
While the doubles contests were close, the tandem of 
Allen Sokolov (Woodland Hills, CA) and 
Jeremy Auh (Scottsdale, AZ) were edged 8-7 in the first. The second doubles of 
David Gandham (Ann Arbor, MI) and 
Adam Krueger (Bay Village, OH) won 8-5, while Matthew Yee (Sha Tin, Hong Kong) and 
Nicolas Demaria (New Hyde Park, NY) fell 8-4.
 
Vassar rallied in the singles play, only dropping one game. Gandham fell to Daniel Gomez at the first, but forced three sets, falling 10-4 in the final. At No. 2, 
Mathew Yee (Sha Tin,  Hong Kong) cruised to the 6-2, 6-0 victory against Wyatt Dale, and 
Jamie Anderson (Constantine, KY) took the 6-4, 3-0 win at the third. Kruger continued his momentum from doubles, downing Jules Kitchingman 6-4, 6-1 at the fourth position. Sokolov and Auh notched victories at the No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Sokolov bested his opponent 6-2, 6-2, while Auh won 6-1, 6-1.
 
The Brewers continue action on Friday to face Chapman at 4 p.m.
