Gilbert, AZ – Following a program record 16 victories during the spring season, the Vassar Men's Tennis Team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team and in addition 10 Brewers were tabbed as Scholar-Athletes. To obtain academic team honors a squad must post a grad point average of 3.2 or better, while individuals are named Scholar-Athletes with a 3.5 grade point average or better.
For the 2025-26 season, the ITA recognized 147 Division III Men's Teams as All-Academic Team while 1,151 men's student-athletes have been recognized as scholar-athletes.
Junior
Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) headlines the Scholar-Athlete selections after posting a 19-9 record over the course of the 2025-26 academic year. Lee was named First Team All-Liberty League in singles as a junior and earned Vassar's first berth into the NCAA Singles Championships since the Brewers had four straight selections from 2010-13. Lee advanced to the Round of 16 and was the first Vassar player to win a match at the event since 2011. Lee was named at ITA All-American with his First Round victory and adds Liberty League All-Academic Team and Academic All-District honors to his 2025-26 resume.
Senior
Fernando Bauermeister (Winter Park, FL) was named Second Team All-Liberty League in both singles and doubles in 2026 after posting a 14-9 singles record and a 17-9 doubles record over both the fall and spring seasons. Bauermeister earned All-Liberty League honors each of his four seasons as a Brewer and landed on the Liberty League All-Academic Team and achieved College Sports Communicators Academic All-District distinction.
Nolan Kubiak (Oregon, Wi) joined Bauermeister as a Second Team All-Liberty League selection in both singles and doubles play as a senior, joining Baumermeister for a 17-9 doubles record at the top flight, while adding an 11-9 record in singles play in 2025-26. Kubiak and Bauermeister were named the Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week on three occasions and the duo won eight of their final 10 decisions of the spring. Kubiak was named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team and was also named Academic All-District.
Miles Sondergaard Jensen earns Scholar-Athletes recognition after combing for three victories in singles and doubles play over the course of the 2025-26 season. Sondergaard Jensen also earned a spot on the Liberty League All-Academic Team for the Brewers.
Sophomore
Joaquin Gil (Brooklyn, NY) won five of his seven singles decisions for Vassar in 2025-26 and added a doubles wins for the Brewers. Gil also was made a Liberty League All-Academic Team selection as a sophomore.
First Year
Junchen Jia (Vail, AZ) burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2025-26 and was named Honorable Mention All-Liberty League in doubles play while earning a trio of Liberty League Rookie of the Week citations. Jia finished the 2025-26 season with 24 combined victories, scoring 10 singles wins and 14 doubles victories teamed with
Pedro Cattaruzzi (Chatham, NJ).
Cattaruzzi earns Scholar-Athlete distinction after joining Jia for a Second Team All-Liberty League citation in doubles play as a senior. Cattaruzzi scored 16 victories in doubles play in 2025-26, going 12-6 at the second position with Jia, including a 6-1 mark against Liberty League rivals. Cattaruzzi also earned a selection to the Liberty League All-Academic Team as a senior.
Fellow First Year
Shrey Choudhary (Farmington, CT) also made an impact in his rookie campaign, going 12-2 in singles play over the course of the fall and spring and adding three more doubles victories. Choudhary won his last four decisions of the spring and posted an 8-1 record at the sixth flight during the spring.
Trevor Hajek (Denver, CO) went 2-2 in singles play during the spring for Vassar, scoring victories for Vassar at the second and fifth flights.
Alfonso Infante (Makati, Philippines) earned his first career singles against Stevens in the fall for Vassar and added a sixth singles victory against Manhattanville in the spring opener for the Brewers.
Ryan Truta (Rye, NY) rounds out the 10 Brewers on named Scholar-Athletes in 2025-26, appearing in one singles match as a rookie and earning a doubles victory against Stevens during the fall campaign.
Vassar concluded the 2025-26 season with a 16-6 overall record and a perfect 8-0 record during the Liberty League schedule.
