Eugene Lee Advances To Round Of 16 At NCAA Singles Championship; Earns All-American Status

Junior rallied for First Round victory Saturday morning

Chattanooga, TN – Vassar College junior Eugene Lee (Chico, CA) won his First Round decision in three sets on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Singles Championship and in the process earned All-American status for the Brewers. Lee became the first Brewer to win at match at the singles championship since Andrew Guzick won two matches in 2011.

After falling behind by a set in the opener against Tufts' Alex Ganchev, Lee rallied to go the distance and earn a hard fought 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory, his 15th singles victory of the spring. Lee went on to battle Alexander Ekstrand from the University of Chicago, who upset the number four seed in the draw, in the Round of 16, battling in a 1-6, 4-6 defeat.

Lee, a First Tean All-Liberty League selection in singles, closes out a standout junior season with a 19-9 overall record covering the season's two semesters.
