PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Vassar College men's swimming & diving team traveled to Pace for its final dual meet of the season on Saturday afternoon. Vassar had a successful day against the Division II opponent, winning nine events on the day, but the Setters ultimately came away with a 149-132 victory at the Goldstein Center Pool.
In the meet-opening 200 yard medley relay, the team of
Max White (Green Bay, WI),
Will Riley (Newton, MA),
Harrison Taylor (Wyandanch, NY) and
Matthew Imiolek (St. Louis, MO) posted a time of 1:41.23 to edge Pace's quartet by 1.23 seconds. White went on to post individual wins in the 500 freestyle (4:54.12) and 200 individual medley (2:00.20) to go along with a second-place showing in the 200 freestyle (1:48.57).
Riley picked up an individual victory of his own in the 100 breaststroke, notching a time of 1:03.09. He also took third in the 200 individual medley (2:13.85). Imiolek, meanwhile, swam the 50 freestyle in 23.03 seconds to earn the win, and Taylor grabbed third place in the 100 butterfly with a 56.30-second clocking.
After taking first in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 10:36.78,
Jordan Kalina (Palatine, IL) finished second behind White in the 500 freestyle (5:11.77).
Jake Mier (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) also had a win and a second-place showing. He was first in the 200 butterfly (1:59.06) and second in the 100 backstroke (59.23). Mier added a third-place effort in the 200 backstroke (2:08.55).
Anthony Tobin (Media, PA) had a strong showing in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. He tallied 269.00 points to take first on the 1-meter board before posting 205.10 points in the 3-meter competition, which was good for second place.
Nikolas Pham (Lancaster, PA) earned Vassar's final individual victory in the 200 breaststroke. His time was 2:18.92. Pham also finished third in the 50 freestyle (23.33). Meanwhile,
Brandon Li (Whippany, NJ) took second in the 100 freestyle (51.89) and
Duncan Webber (New York, NY) captured third place in the 100 backstroke (1:00.28).
Vassar finished dual meet competition with a 3-5 record. The Brewers return to action at the Skidmore Sprint Invitational next Saturday at 1 p.m. It will be Vassar's final tune-up before the Liberty League Championships.
