POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Vassar women's fencing squad went 4-0 at the January Invitational on Sunday at the Walker Field House. The Brewers bested Cleveland State with marks of 21-6 and 17-8, and topped Detroit-Mercy 22-5 both times. Â
Epee led the Vassar fencers with a 33-3 day, while sabre went 26-10. Foil picked up a 25-11record to round out the day. Leading the epee squad was freshman
Chloe Chinnadurai (Denville, NJ) who had a standout day at 9-1.
Breanna Piercy (Knoxville, TN),
Shannon Chen (Westford, MA) andÂ
Rose Hulsey-Vincent all went undefeated, with Chen going 7-0, Piercy at 6-0 and Hulsey-Vincent tallying a 5-0 record.
Rosie Parker (Portland, OR) went 4-2.
Senior
Mirit Rutishauser (New York, NY) led the foil squad at 10-2, and freshman
Zoe Tolbert (Olympia, WA) went 6-1.
Nicoletta Dinelli (Talent, OR) went undefeated at 7-0 to lead the sabre field.
Rose Parker (Westfield, NJ) tallied a 4-1 record.
Seniors Rutishauser, Hulsey-Vincent and
Sophie Blumenstock (St. Paul, MN) were also honored today during the senior day ceremony before the matches started.
Vassar travels to Brown next weekend for the Northeast Fencing Conference Meet No. 2 on Sat. Jan. 26. Start time is set for 10 a.m.
