POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 29, 2018) – The Vassar College baseball team will continue its eight-game home stand on Friday and Saturday afternoons, hosting St. Lawrence University for four games this weekend in the Liberty League openers for both teams. Vassar is coming in off of a 10-4 defeat of Old Westbury on Wednesday, as five players had multi-hit performances for the Brewers.

Last Time Out: The Brewers posted a big five-run fifth inning to regain the lead, and built on that with two more in the top of the seventh to earn a 10-4 win over Old Westbury for the home season opener. Senior Bobby Kinne posted three hits and two walks, scoring twice, while Matt Hernandez, Bryan Rubin, Taylor Smach and Jake Doyle all added a pair of hits as well.

A Look At The Brewers (3-5, 0-0 Liberty League):

• The Brewers upped their team average from .246 before the game against Old Westbury to .261 after the contest.
• Vassar has posted 15 doubles on the year, which ranks No. 3 in the Liberty League thus far.
• VC continues to catch the ball at a high rate, posting the league's top defensive fielding percentage at .979.
• Senior Bobby Kinne currently sits No. 5 in the Liberty League batting average standings, as he leads the team with a .462 clip. Kinne is also fourth in the Liberty League in on-base percentage (.533).
• Freshman right-hander Logan Willans has tossed 6.1 innings over three appearances so far, not allowing an earned run while striking out eight including six looking.
• Senior Derek DeMild has logged three appearances thus far, holding teams to a batting average of .182.
• Sophomore Evan Trausch has posted three games with multiple RBI, which is best on the team, as no one has more than one this season.
• Vassar has been efficient this season on stolen base attempts, going 10-for-12 led by Bobby Kinne and his 5-for-6 ratio.
• Wednesday starter Mitchell Mullock has been solid, and hasn't allowed one person to reach by walk this season over 8.2 innings of work.

A Look At The Saints (1-7, 0-0 Liberty League):

• St. Lawrence has played a strong schedule this far, with its only win coming down in Ft. Myers, FL over Old Westbury 7-6. SLU has dropped non-conference contests to ranked Wooster and Johns Hopkins as well.
• SLU has the Liberty League's second-best batting average as a team with a .308 clip, while the Saints' on-base percentage of .393 leads the conference.
• Freshman James Cronin has had an immediate impact so far, leading the team in hitting with a .455 average, slugging .818 as well.
• Junior Evan O'Keeffe has also posted a .421 batting average, and Isaac Lewis is tied for the team lead with 10 hits.
• Starter Caleb Clarke has tossed 12 innings to lead the team for St. Lawrence, allowing four earned runs over two starts. He has allowed hitters to bat just .238 off of him this season.
• Alex Black has also started twice for SLU, posting a 1-0 record while striking out six hitters.
• Will Fellows and Anthony Ferraro have each appeared in four games out of the bullpen to lead the team.

Against SLU All-Time: The Brewers are 14-29 against St. Lawrence all-time, as the teams have split the last six games in the series. Since 2013, Vassar is 9-4 against the Saints, including taking two of three in Canton, NY last year.
