A Look At the Brewers (19-13):

  • Vassar will look to get over 20 match wins for the fifth straight season on Saturday, as the Brewers also have a chance to win the third-most victories in a year if they can pick up all five matches.
  • VC is tied for fifth in the NFC standings coming in, but is fencing four of the bottom five teams in the conference along with rival Sacred Heart University.
  • The Brewers have gotten a team-best 180 wins from the sabre squad this season, paced by standout freshman Evin Heintz and his 60-15 overall record.
  • The foil team has three 40-bout winners this season, led by Tom Racek, while Noe Berger and Adlai Brandt-Ogman each have 44 and 40 wins, respectively.
  • Senior Jonathan Alperstein has gone 41-22 this season for the VC epee squad.
  • Freshman Michael Jaklitsch has also been strong or the epee team, as he leads the group with 45 bout victories.
  • Vassar could clinch another winning season this weekend under the helm of head coach Bruce Gillman, who has seen his squads go .500 or better in 10 of 12 seasons.
  • Gillman also is the program's all-time winningest coach at 231 wins through his 13 seasons for Vassar.

Up Next: The Brewers will head to New York City on Valentine's Day, February 14 to exchange pleasantries with No. 1 Columbia University and No. 9 New York University at the annual Historical Meet in the Blue Gymnasium starting at 6 p.m. in the Big Apple.
