FAIRFIELD, CT – The Vassar men's fencing team faced a challenging weekend, facing five Division I schools at Sunday's Sacred Heart Traditional Multi-Meet. The Brewers competed against Harvard, Sacred Heart, Penn State, Princeton, NJIT and Division III NYU.

As a team, Vassar went 0-6 on the day, starting with a 4-23 loss to Harvard followed by a close 12-15 loss to Sacred Heart. In the third round, Vassar fell 8-19 to Penss State and then dropped a 6-21 decision to Princeton. The Brewers then fell 10-17 to NJIT in the final round.

Evin Heintz (Pearland, TX) highlighted the day, going 10-8 in the sabre event. He went 3-1 against Sacred Heart and 2-1 against NYU and Princeton. The sabre squad went 9-0 against Sacred Heart behind 3-0 performances from behind 3-0 performances from Heintz
Graeme Mills (Boston, MA) and
Max Deak (San Diego, CA).

Foil had a strong performance against NJIT, edging the Highlanders 5-4.
Chris Gaehde (Brookline, MA) won 3-0 to finish the day at 6-9 to lead the Vassar foil squad.
