ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – On Friday night, the Vassar College women's swimming & diving team earned a 95-49 victory over Bard at the Stevenson Athletic Center Pool. The Brewers posted six event wins, including four 1-2 showings.
Kendall Hayes (Baltimore, MD) posted a time of 26.95 seconds to take first in the 50 yard freestyle. She also placed second in the 100 freestyle, notching a 57.72-second clocking.
Brynn Lautenbacher (Dunwoody, GA) finished first in the 100 freestyle (56.03), while
Hayley Schultz's (Fayetteville, NY) time of 27.17 seconds was good for second place in the 50 freestyle.
In the 200 individual medley,
Rhea Randhawa (Dix Hills, NY) (2:17.47) and
Rachel Yang (Minocqua, WI) (2:27.07) earned the top two positions. The Brewers' fourth event sweep came in the 100 butterfly, where
Ellie Kennedy-Wood (Oak Park, IL) registered a time of 1:03.79 and
Meg Harrington (Wilbraham, MA) finished in 1:10.63.
Hannah Zawacki (San Jose, CA), meanwhile, compiled 157.80 points to win the 1-meter diving competition.
The Brewers also grabbed first- and second-place in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Randhawa,
Stephanie Kaplan (Bellmore, NY), Lautenbacher and
Violet Witchel (Durango, CO) (1:54.84) just edged
Jesse Ecklund (Missoula, MT), Schultz, Kennedy-Wood and Harrington (1:55.08) for the victory.
Vassar returns to Kresge Pool for each of its next two competitions. The Brewers will honor their six seniors prior to the meet against Skidmore at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.
