POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 25, 2018) – The first weekend of Northeast Fencing Conference action is on tap for the Vassar College women's fencing team in Boston this weekend. VC will be looking to rebound from going 3-4 at the Western Invitational a few weeks ago, knocking off CalTech, the University of Florida and the University of the Incarnate Word.

Annie Innes-Gold continue to rack up victories with 14 more, including going 3-0 against Stanford, while
Mirit Rutishauser added seven wins in foil on the day.
A Look At The Brewers (11-16):
- The Brewers have been paced this season by their solid sabre squad, which leads the team with 134 bout victories this year.
- Other than Innes-Gold and her team-best 67 bout wins, squad mate and senior Lilia Hutchinson has 30 victories as well for the Brewers.
- Nicoletta Dinelli has added 15 wins as well, while Rose Parker has contributed 17 wins on the season including going 2-0 against CalTech.
- Vassar has seen Rutishauser post 45 bout wins this year, which is the second-most on the entire team, while senior Zoe Morgan had registered 27 wins as well in foil after finishing the day at Stanford with a 3-0 record against ICW.
- Freshman Isabella Migani, who was injured earlier in the season, has been solid in foil with 12 wins while also helping out with a 3-3 mark in epee.
- VC will look to its trio of Shannon Chen, Hannah Gaven and Grace Han in epee, as the group has combined for 44 wins this season.
- The Brewers get a nice addition back to the epee team this semester, as junior Rose Hulsey-Vincent returns to action. The junior went 84-47 in dual meets last season.
A Look At The Competition:
- Vassar will take on the four top women's teams in the NFC standings this weekend, while Tufts is getting its first taste of league fencing this weekend.
- VC opens against MIT, which has gone 6-1 this year so far, with its only NFC loss coming to Brandeis 15-12.
- Helen Sakharova is 21-0 in NFC action so far in epee to lead all epee fencers in the conference, while Karen Gu is 13-4 for the Engineers in foil. Stephanie Li is also 15-0 in foil for MIT.
- The Engineers will lean on Therese Mills and Amelia Bryan in sabre, who have combined to go 29 for 42 in NFC action.
- Tufts was 5-7 last year in the NFC, but have only fenced twice this season in a pair of losses to Harvard and Wellesley.
- The BC women sit on top of the NFC standings with a 6-1 record, falling to only Sacred Heart 15-12.
- Jaime Bang is 16-5 in epee for the Eagles, with teammate Ella Morgan going 11-4 so far. BC's foil team has seen Kayla Moy post a 16-3 mark, while squad made Amanda Lewis is 15-3.
- Boston College also has two fencers in the top nine in NFC action in sabre, with Laura Donovan going 18-2 so far.
- Brandeis has only dropped a 14-13 decision to Wellesley this season, much in part to its strong foil team.
- The Judges have seen Joanne Carminucci lead the way in foil with a 16-1 record, while Jessica Gets is 14-4. In epee, Liz Feller has gone 10-5, while teammates Emilee Eastman and Dakota Levy are 7-4 as well.
- Brown's only league loss this year is a 17-10 loss to Boston College, as its foil team boasts the top three fencers in the conference in total touches.
- Elena Jin, Ebba Brunnstrom and Clarissa Allen have combined to go 51-8 in foil in the NFC this year, while Sofija Podvisocka is 14-6 in epee and Signe Golash leads the NFC sabre standings with a 19-2 mark and 98 touches.
