POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (March 31, 2017) – The Vassar College men's volleyball team will look to continue its amazing 10-match winning streak, finishing up United Volleyball Conference (UVC) action with a pair of contests with Penn State-Behrend and Bard College this weekend in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. The Brewers need just one win this weekend to clinch hosting duties for the UVC Tournament on April 14-16.

Last Time Out: Vassar claimed another huge victory on Wednesday, rallying from down two sets to pull out a 3-2 victory over No. 2 New Paltz in Vassar's second win over the second-ranked team this season. VC knocked off Stevens earlier this season when the Ducks were ranked No. 2. Vassar has now won 10 straight victories, as it looks to break the school mark of 13 set back in 2008. Matthew Knigge, and
Christian Lizana added 12 terminations as well in the Brewers first win over New Paltz since 2012.
A Look At The Brewers (22-6, 6-0 UVC):
- The Brewers currently lead the country in blocks per set with 2.63 a game, while junior Matthew Knigge has posted a Division III-best 1.38 rejections a set.
- Knigge also ranks No. 7 in the nation in hitting percentage with a 0.415 clip.
- Senior libero Trey Cimorelli has posted 2.69 digs per set, which is tops in the United Volleyball Conference while ranking No. 20 in the nation.
- Junior Zechariah Lee ranks No. 23 in the nation in assists per set with 9.03 a game, while ranking 15th nationally in blocks a set with 0.96.
- Vassar ranks third in the conference in service aces per set with 1.53, while also ranking third in digs per game with 9.02.
- Freshman Yoni Auerbach picked up his first collegiate UVC honor Monday, as he was named as the UVC Rookie of the Week thanks to his standout play in a 3-0 week for VC.
- VC has played the third-hardest schedule in all of Division III men's volleyball, eclipsed only by Cal Lutheran and NYU.
- The Brewers' 10-game winning streak is the third-longest in Division III currently, as Springfield College (23) and Carthage (17) are in front of VC.
- Cimorelli currently has more digs than any active player in all of NCAA volleyball with 1,106. He's also played in the most matches of any active collegiate player with 121.
- Knigge has the third-highest career hitting percentage of any NCAA player with a .437 hitting clip, and ranks first in Division III of active players.
A Look at The Nittany Lions (10-12, 2-5 UVC)
- The Nittany Lions have been led by Trenton Munk, who paces the Lions in blocks, hitting percentage, kills and points per set.
- Munk ranks fourth in the nation in blocks per set with 1.15 rejections a set.
- The Nittany Lions are ranked second in the UVC in total attacks per set, averaging 27.82 per game.
- Dillon Hildenbrand is second on the team with 201 kills, while sophomore outside hitter Tyler Herrmann also has 163 kills this year.
- Freshman setter Calvin Nowicki has a team-best 427 helpers, while sophomore Anthony Sprentz is right behind him with 341 assists.
- Sophomore Robert McMaster has posted a team-best 146 digs on the season, posting 2.06 digs per set.
- Head coach Phil Pisano is in his 13th year as a head coach at PSU-Behrend, serving as the men's volleyball head coach for the past six years.
A Look at The Raptors (5-18, 0-6 UVC)
- The Raptors have used the service game to their advantage, ranking second in the UVC in aces with 1.66 aces per set and 23rd nationally.
- Senior Alex Adams has posted a team-leading 141 kills on the season, posting 2.27 kills per game.
- Tristan Kozul has added 129 kills on the year, while playing in 23 matches and a team-best 71 sets.
- Bard is coming off a 3-0 loss to Stevens in its last time out, while knocking off Yeshiva March 27 in three games.
- Four of the Raptor's five wins this season have come in the friendly confines of Stevenson Athletic Center.
- Mahir Sheikh leads the team with 256 assists on the season, while Shane McDonald also has dished out 125 helpers.
- Head coach Antonia Sweet is in her first season as the head mentor of the Raptors, having served as an assistant at Vassar for many seasons as well.
