Armaan Desai Garners CSC Third Team At-Large Academic All-American Honors

The juniors becomes the 15th Brewer to earn Academic All-American honors, sixth men's volleyball student-athlete

Greenwood, IN - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its At-Large Academic All-American selections on Wednesday afternoon as Vassar College Men's Volleyball junior Armaan Desai was selected as a Third Team honoree. Desai becomes the 15th Vassar student-athlete to earn the illustrious honor and the sixth men's volleyball student-athlete to score All-American honors.

Desai, a junior from Pennington, NJ, put together an impressive junior campaign for the men's volleyball program as he finished the season ranked second nationally in blocks per set and also tied the single season record for solo blocks with 29. Desai helped Vassar to a 17 win campaign, which included five nationally-ranked victories and wins over eventual national champions Springfield and #3 Stevens. Desai was selected as an All-UVC first team selection for the first time, earned his second AVCA All-Region II selection and was named an AVCA First Team All-American for the first time in his career and was also named the Vassar Athletics Betty Richey Performer of the Year. He also was named to the USA D3 Volleyball Team and played in Brazil from June 8-17 to compete against local Brazilian teams.

Desai's 29 solo blocks match the single-season program record of Matthew Knigge '18 and he finishes the regular season third in the country at 1.21 blocks per set. Desai ranks sixth all-time in Vassar history in solo blocks with 55 for his career and holds two of the top-five single season marks in solo blocks. Desai also finished the season hitting .405, which ranks 10th all-time in a single season, and now gives him two of the top-10 marks in school history. Through three seasons, Desai's hitting percentage of .383 sits fourth all-time in Vassar program history.

Desai recorded new career-highs in kills (181), kills per set (2.32), solo blocks (29), total blocks (94), blocks per set (1.21), points (256.5) and points per set (3.29). Desai buried a new career-high in kills with 20 against NYU and also notched six matches with double-digit kills. He also recorded 10 matches with five or more total blocks, including a career-high 10 total blocks against Kean. Desai closed the season with 14 matches where he registered a solo block out of 22 matches played in 2026.

Vassar closed the season with a 17-10 overall record and 3-4 in UVC regular season matchups to earn the fifth seed in the final season in the United Volleyball Conference before falling to fourth-seeded Hobart in the First Round. The Brewers will move to the NEWMAC next season for the inaugural season of men's volleyball in the conference.
