2016: The junior captain had another fine season for the Brewers, as he helped VC to 24 wins in 2016...Cimorelli played in 111 sets on the campaign, getting into all 31 matches...posted a team-high 263 digs on the year, average 2.37 digs per set...was third on the team in assists with 90...finished third in the UVC in digs per set, while his total digs were also the third-most in the conference...ranked 32nd nationally in digs per set...posted nine matches with 10 or more defensive saves...had a season-best 17 digs against Hunter College March 11...helped knock off No. 11 Kean with 16 digs January 23...posted back-to-back 13 dig performances against MIT (Mar. 5) and Baruch (Mar. 9)...totaled a career-high 30 assists at Save, as he was forced into setting duties, also blocking six attempts in that match...ends his junior season with 834 digs, as he tries to become the second player all-time with 1000 digs at VC.
2015: Cimorelli was tabbed as a team captain as a sophomore, and had another solid campaign for the Brewers...played in 93 sets as a sophomore, seeing action in all 31 matches...averaged 2.46 digs per set, which was tops among Vassar players and also fourth-most in the United Volleyball Conference...finished with 229 digs as a sophomore...posted a season-high 18 digs in a five-set win over MIT March 14...finished 17 digs in a five-set victory over Hunter College March 4...had double-digit digs in 11 matches in 2015...posted 16 digs in a four-set loss to Elmira Feb. 15...tallied a career-high eight assists in the five-set win over Hunter...finished with 31 assists as a sophomore...was third on the team in sets played.
2014: Played in 113 sets across all 31 matches…started all 31 matches…led the team with 332 digs, the fourth-highest dig total in Vassar history…recorded 57 assists, 11 kills, two aces, and one block…hit .025…had a career-high 19 digs against Ramapo Feb. 1…contributed 15 digs against Nazareth Feb. 8…recorded eight digs and a season-high four assists against Emerson Feb. 15…had 14 digs and four assists against NYU Feb. 27…contributed a career-high five kills on a .231 hitting percentage, and added a career-high two aces and a block against New Paltz Mar. 2…had double-digit digs in seven consecutive matches from Mar. 5 to Mar. 15…contributed 18 digs against Penn State-Behrend Mar. 8…tied a career-high with 19 digs and three assists against Hilbert Mar. 9…recorded 16 digs against Sacred Heart Mar. 29…had at least ten digs in 18 matches…was third in the conference in digs, averaging 2.94 digs per set.
PRIOR TO VASSAR: Lettered three years in volleyball at Orchard Park High School for head coach Walt Stefani…2-time First Team All-WNY…named First Team All-NYS as well as Varsity Volleyball MVP in 2012…lettered three years in basketball for head coach Bob Rumshick…lettered three years in baseball for head coach Jim Gibson.
PERSONAL: Parents are Anthony and Julie Cimorelli…siblings are Amanda (23) and Lisa (21)…chose Vassar because it “gave [him] an opportunity to play [volleyball] and get a good education”…plans to major in biophysics…chose Vassar over Loyola Chicago, University of Pittsburgh, and SUNY Buffalo.
