POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 27, 2017) – The Vassar College women's fencing team will return to action after a week hiatus, welcoming a strong contingent of teams to Walker Field House for the Traditional Multi-Meet. Vassar is coming off a 4-2 afternoon at the Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational, finishing third among women's teams.

Last Time Out: Vassar took third at the Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational, knocking off Queens College, RIT, LIU Post and Yeshiva University while falling to West Point and eventual title holder Drew University.
Annie Innes-Gold went 18-0 on the day, while junior
Mirit Rutishauser battled to a 16-2 record for the afternoon.
A Look At The Brewers (8-5):
- The Brewers will lead heavily on their strong sabre team this weekend, led by Innes-Gold, who comes into the meet 38-1 in dual bouts this year for VC.
- Sabre fencer Rose Parker is 15-6 on the year, while senior captain Lilia Hutchinson is 24-14 as well. VC's sabre team is 86-30 for the season.
- Rutishauser has led the foil team in victories with 33 this year, while senior Zoe Morgan is 22-14 for the campaign. The foil team has posted a 71-45 record on the season.
- Rookie Isabella Migani went 8-4 in her first collegiate action at the Matt Lampell Invitational in foil.
- Freshman Hannah Gaven leads the epee team with 10 wins, while Shannon Chen has posted nine bout victories as well.
- The epee team has chalked up just 19 victories on the year so far, but will be aided by the return of Rose Hulsey-Vincent after the semester break.
- Vassar's sabre team has gone 10-3 this season as a squad, with two of their defeats coming in 5-4 defeats against Drew University and Wagner University.
- The Vassar foil team is 9-4 as a squad this year, posting eight or more victories in three matches.
A Look At The Traditional Multi-Meet:
- The Crimson of Harvard University is led in sabre by junior Gabrielle Tartakovsky, who was an NCAA Championships qualifier last year. Senior MacKenzie Lawrence is back after taking 21st last year at nationals.
- Harvard's epee team has two returning national competitors in a pair of juniors, Shawn Wallace and Sharon Ra.
- The Quakers are led by sophomore foil fencers Danielle Ferdon and Nicole Vaiani, both of whom finishing in the top 11 at the NCAA Championships last season.
- UPenn sophomore Sara Papp was an All-American as a freshman in sabre, winning 14 of her 23 bouts at the NCAA Championships.
- Princeton sophomore Maia Chamberlain returns as one of the favorites to win the sabre national title, after finishing third as a newcomer last season. Junior Sage Palmedo was 10th as well in sabre at nationals last year.
- The Tigers graduated their two best epee fencers, who went 1-2 at the NCAA Championships in Anna Van Brummen and Katharine Holmes.
- PSU's sabre team is paced by Karen Chang, who was an All-American last season. Foil's Jade Rowland is also back after making an NCAA Championships appearance last season.
- Both Penn State epee NCAA qualifiers from last year are gone, but the Nittany Lions have 10 fencers on the roster ready to step into a starting role.
- Sophomore Kerry Plunkett leads the Temple sabre team, taking 19th at the NCAA Championships last year. Safa Ibrahim from the Bronx, NY was an All-American in epee.
