POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 17, 2017) – The Vassar College women's swimming and diving team got personal-bests from
Stephanie Kaplan and
Angharad Healey Friday, but the Brewers were unable to pick up the victory in action from Kresge Pool with a score of 150-118. Vassar dropped to 3-2 in dual meets this season.
Vassar got some strong swims to start the evening, as Healey earned the victory in her first 1650 distance free, as she swam an 18:27.50 for the victory. Junior
Kael Ragnini was just behind her with an 18:49.40, taking second place in the race as well. In the 200 free, Kaplan took second place with a 2:03.13, while senior
Emily McDaniels was fourth overall with a season-best time of 2:09.55, 4.6 percent better than her previous best time.
In the 100 backstroke, freshman
Rhea Randhawa took second place with a season-best time of 1:01.13, while VC went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke as junior
Hayley Schultz earned the win with a 1:09.58. Freshman
Shannon Schrope was just behind her with a 1:10.21, while freshman
Abby Kirsch chalked up a season-best time of 1:19.78 in the 100 breast as well.

Ellie Kennedy-Wood earned a victory in the 200 fly, swimming a 2:28.73 to edge Natalia Giunta of New Paltz (3-0), while Healey later swam a personal-best in the 50 free with 28.06. After the diving break, Kaplan was second with a season-best time of 56.22, while senior
Madison Carroll earned a season-best time of 1:07.26 in the event.
Randhawa was back in the pool to chalk up an individual win in the 200 back, as she swam a season-best 2:10.89. In the 200 breaststroke, Schultz swam a season-best time of 2:30.51 to earn the victory, while Schrope was right behind her in second with a 2:34.61. Healey added her second win of the night in the 500 free with a time of 5:28.85, and senior
Cali Corbett was second in the 500 with a season-best 5:46.41.
In the 200 IM, Randhawa swam a 2:15.31 for a season-best time, as VC finished the night with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay, 1:44.88. In diving, senior
Katie Nordstrom chalked up a first-place finish in the 1-meter event, as she improved her point total for the fourth consecutive meet with a 105.15, up from her 101.80 at RPI Saturday.
Vassar is off next weekend, but then travels to Rochester, NY for the RIT Invitational December 1-2 at Rochester Institute of Technology.
