What To Look For
The women's team is coming into Wednesday's competition off of a high note from the NFC Championships hosted at Smith College on February 6th, where they went 4-1 on the day. They dropped their first match to Sacred Heart, but then finished the day with four straight triumphs over University of New Hampshire, Dartmouth College, Boston University, Wellesley, and UMass. Overall, this puts the women at 21-18 overall and 7-5 in conference play and sporting a percentage of .538.

A Look At the Violets
The Violets saw their last action at the Eric Sollee Invitational at Brandeis University, where they posted a 2-4 record on the day. The women of NYU bested Hunter College and Haverford College at the Invitational in late January. The women of NYU were coming off of a win at their most recent previous competition, a meet against Tufts University where they dominated, finishing the event with a 18-9 win in mid-January.

A Look at the Lions
Columbia women's fencing squad will be hard to beat this Wednesday, as they are coming off a huge weekend having clinched a three way tie for first at the Ivy League Championships, their second year in a row earning the title. This marks the first three-way tie for Ivies in almost 20 years. The Lions have a strong women's roster, including Ilana Solomon, who was named College Fencing 360 National Rookie of the Week at the end of January. Columbia also holds the Women's Team NCAA Championship Title.

Snow Day
The Lions and the Violets were scheduled to meet on the strip on January 23rd at the NYU/St. Johns meet, which ended up being cancelled for snow. As a result, this will be both Vassar and NYU's first time matching up against the Lions this 2015/16 season.

Coming in Hot
The Vassar women's fencing squad is entering Wednesday's competition on a five meet winning streak and hope to continue their momentum against the New York duo.

Home Bodies
The Vassar women love competing on their home turf - their current record on Poughkeepsie ground is 12-2 and 0-4 away.

Dominant Denman
Women's foil fencer Kirsten Denman (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) went 11-1 last weekend for the Brewers, helping the foil team to a 45-9 mark.

In Blumenstock
Freshman foilist Sophie Blumenstock (St. Paul, MN/Nova Classical Academy) was lights out last weekend, going 16-2 in her 18 Northeast Fencing Conference matches.

Friendly Foil
The Brewers saw another amazing day of fencing by a foil fencer Mirit Rutishauser (New York, NY/LaGuardia Art Music), as she went 14-1 this past weekend.

Living Large
Junior Olivia Weiss (Pittsburgh, PA/Pennsylvania Cyber Charter) leads the team with 74 wins this year, and was 15-3 this weekend at the NFC Meet at Smith College.

Up Next
Vassar women's fencing will compete in the EWFC Championships this upcoming Sunday afternoon.
