Last Time Out
The Vassar men's lacrosse team won 26 of 29 face-offs on its way to victory against Western Connecticut State University in the season opener Wednesday. Last year, the Brewers defeated the Colonials by a slim margin of 9-8, and this year's emphatic 19-7 win reveals the team's improvement. Senior captain Noah Parson paced the team with five goals, as one of eight Brewers to score. Chris Billups, Sam Houston-Read and Dekker Stebel scored three goals apiece, while Evan Burns, Brandon DeStasio, Andrew Killinger, Liam Moriarty and Liam Neville each had one. Moriarty also went 12-14 in face-offs and dished out a team-high three assists.

A Look At The Red Hawks (0-2, 0-0 Skyline)
The Red Hawks started off the season with two consecutive losses for the first time since 2012. The first came to perennial powerhouse No. 5 Salisbury University, which beat MSU handily, 23-7, on Feb. 20. Dickinson College (3-0) went on to beat MSU, 14-7 seven days later. Zach Schreck leads the Red Hawks in goals (four) and total points (six). Fellow senior Don Finn has four assists and one goal to start out the season.

Against Montclair State All-Time
Since 2013, Vassar College is 0-3 against Montclair State. In their most recent meeting on March 4, 2015, the Red Hawks won 12-3. In 2014, the Brewers scored seven goals against the Red Hawks at Montclair, which is the most they have recorded against their New Jersey rival.

Rookie of the Week
The Liberty League named Dekker Stebel the Rookie of the Week on Monday after his breakout performance in his first collegiate contest. The middie scored three goals on seven shots and added two assists in Vassar's 19-7 win over Western Connecticut State on Wednesday.

Honor Rollin'
Noah Parson dominated in Vassar's opening win with five goals on eight shots, including a goal eight seconds into the contest. The attack also dished out one assist and picked up a ground ball.

Getting Closer
Just two games into his senior campaign, Noah Parson is only one goal away from tying the all-time leader in career goals. Max Herman, who had 91 goals from 2011-2014, currently holds to milestone. Parson is also on track to become the all-time leader in points with 127. The number to beat is 135, which is also currently held by Herman.

Junior Defenders
Vassar's four starting defensemen, Eric Prezioso, Brian Kube, Brandon Klein, and Steven Mages, are all juniors. The Class of 2017 has been a consistent presence on the defensive end, accompanied by fellow junior long-stick middie Austin Haymes.

Goalie Nation
Junior Brandon Crecco earned the win in the season opener. He made six saves and allowed five goals-against for a 54.5 save percentage. Freshman Matt Boyd came in and posted two saves, while allowing only two goals-against in the final 24 minutes of the game.

Fishman, The Faceoff Specialist
Sophomore Eric Fishman was a perfect 10-10 on face-offs on the Brewers' way to taking 26 of 29 in Wednesday's opener.
