Last Time Out: Vassar dropped only its third contest of the season on Saturday at RPI, falling to the Engineers 1-0 on Senior Day in Troy, NY. The two teams combined for just 14 shots, while RPI had six of the nine penalty corners in the game. Vassar had great chances in the opening half, along with early in the second stanza but couldn't capitalize. Nicole Clancy scored the only goal for RPI with 3:05 to play in regulation, as the Brewers were shutout for the first time this season.

A Look At The Brewers (12-3, 4-2 Liberty League):

  • Vassar's defense has continued to be stellar this season, allowing just eight goals all year, which leads the Liberty League and is second-best in all of NCAA field hockey behind Division II Shippensburg and its six allowed scores.
  • The first NCAA Regional Rankings came out last Wednesday, and the Vassar field hockey team is ranked No. 1 in the North Atlantic Region.
  • In Liberty League play, Vassar has scored 15 goals, which ranks tied for second with Skidmore College.
  • VC has three players ranked in the top 10 in the conference in assists per game, as Megan Caveny (0.467, 4th), Storm Sideleau (0.417, 5th) and Emma Bracken (.333, 10th) are all on the listing.
  • Caveny is currently ranked fifth in the conference in points per game with 24, which is just four shy of the VC single-season record for points in a season behind the 28 of Tina Caso in 2013.
  • Vassar's four conference wins here in 2016 is the most of any season ever. Along with the wins, VC will host its first-ever home Liberty League Tournament contest.
  • With their six goals last Thursday, the Brewers broke the school record for goals in a season, posting their 49th of the season. VC also broke the single-season points record as a team on Thursday, posting its 135th point of the year.
  • The Brewers finished their home slate for the regular season last Thursday, going 9-1 on Weinberg Field and have now posted a 34-3 home record over the last four seasons.
  • The Brewers currently have five players with 10 or more points this season, which marks the third year in the last four seasons that has happened. VC has never had six in a season, as Gracie Tavakkol and Emma Bracken each have nine, and three others have eight.
  • Freshman Cristina Lopez has been a juggernaut for the Brewers, as the newcomer hasn't come off the field in the last nine games.
  • Sophomore keeper Paige Amico leads the conference in goals against average (0.628), save percentage (.849) and shutouts.
  • Vassar is ranked No. 18 on FieldHockeyCorner.com on their average computer ratings listing.
  • Freshman Sam Plante chalked up her first career defensive save on Saturday against RPI, as it was just the second defensive save all season for VC.

A Look At The Royals (5-10, 2-4 Landmark)

  • Scranton has a 5-10 record, but it's not indicative of how the season is going for the Royals, as they've dropped seven one-goal games this year, going 1-7 in such contests.
  • The Royals are currently tied for fifth in the Landmark Conference standings, winning contests with Moravian and Goucher.
  • Meredith Campbell leads the offense for the Royals, as she comes into the game on Wednesday with 10 goals and two assists. Her 22 points are tied for fourth-best in the Landmark.
  • Katherine McVeagh has chalked up seven assists this season, which is third-most in the Landmark while leading the Royals.
  • Scranton is outscoring teams 14-7 in the first half this season, while allowing 13 second half tallies. Oddly enough, Scranton has outshot teams in the second half, and allowed more shots than taken in the first half.
  • Scranton has played six overtime games this year, going 1-5 in those contests.
  • Elizabeth Tolley and Elizabeth Yorey have both scored four goals and dished out two assists this year.
  • Defender Jessica Kaplowitz has chalked up seven defensive saves on the campaign, which leads the team and Landmark Conference.
  • Tate Ackerman and Claire McAllister have split time in cage for the Royals, as Ackerman has played 675 minutes, allowing 14 goals while making 57 saves.
  • McAllister has earned 454 minutes between the pipes, allowing 11 goals and making 21 stops.
  • Head coach Colleen Moyer has been with the Royals for 11 seasons, earning 10 of more victories eight times.

Against Scranton All-Time: Vassar is looking to even the all-time mark Wednesday against the Royals, having gone 4-5 against Scranton all-time. The two teams have alternated wins over the last four seasons, with the home team winning the last four games. Before that, the road team won the first five outings between the squads.

Up Next: Vassar will finish its regular season on Saturday afternoon, heading across the river at 1 p.m. to take on the Hawks of New Paltz in a non-conference tussle.
