POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 21, 2015) - Sophomore Jonah Strand posted two victories for Vassar Saturday afternoon in a dual meet with New York University. The Violets came out ahead in the team scoring, winning 180-98 to move to 6-0 on the season. Vassar now stands at 2-3.

Strand swam a season-best 1:00.57 in the 100 breaststroke, to top the field by nearly three seconds. Strand also placed first in the 200 breast (2:13.49) edging NYU's top finisher by over two seconds. The time was also his fastest of the season. Â Â

Freshman Alex May was the top finisher for VC in the 1000 free with a mark of 10:31.34. May was also the top Vassar swimmer in the 500 free, finishing in 5:10.24.

Freshman Ian Labash finished in 1:54.76 to claim fourth in the 100 backstroke. Junior Chris Cerutti finished in 1:00.05 in the 100 back. Cerutti was also the top Brewer in the 200 back, finishing in 2:08.56. Â

Anthony Walker took first in the field in the 200 fly, finishing in 1:59.95. He later posted a season-best 53.39 in the 100 fly. Â

Cerutti, Strand, Walker and LaBash were the top 200 yard medley team for Vassar, finishing in 1:42.32.

Vassar will compete for the final time this semester at the Liberty League Championships December 4-5 in Troy, NY. Â
